Description
AKG C417 PP Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone
AKG C417 PP is a small wired lavalier with an omnidirectional pickup pattern and a standard XLR connection. It suits presentations, interviews and performance situations where a discreet clip-on microphone is preferable to a handheld model.
Why Choose AKG C417 PP?
Keep the capsule clear of fabric, jewellery and cable movement. Test it at the speaker’s normal level before the event. Omnidirectional pickup accommodates head movement, but sensible loudspeaker positioning remains important for amplified speech.
Key Features
- Omnidirectional pickup: accommodates natural speaking movements.
- Small clip-on format: keeps the microphone visually discreet.
- PP XLR connection: suits an appropriately powered wired microphone input.
- Mounting accessories: AKG lists a clip, tie pin and windscreen.
Best Suited For
Lectures, interviews, presentations and performances that need discreet hands-free voice pickup.
Setup and Connection Guide
Attach the lavalier securely where clothing will not rub against the capsule. Leave enough cable slack for movement and test the intended speaking position. Connect to an input with the appropriate powering for the PP version. Listen for handling noise, breath and feedback at the actual presentation level before the session starts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can it plug straight into an AKG bodypack?
The PP is the wired standard-XLR version. C417 L is the mini-XLR version intended for compatible bodypacks; an adapter alone does not guarantee correct powering or wiring.
Does a clip-on microphone prevent feedback?
No. Keep PA speakers appropriately positioned and use only the gain needed for intelligible speech. A lavalier farther from the mouth may need more gain than a close handheld microphone.
Can it plug straight into a phone?
A standard phone connection does not provide the same input and powering as an XLR microphone preamp. Use an appropriate interface and verify the complete connection chain.
