Audio Converter buying guide
Audio converters connect devices that do not share the same connections. The most common example in Indian homes is a modern TV with only an optical (TOSLINK) output connected to speakers, amplifiers or a home theatre that only has RCA or 3.5 mm inputs. A digital-to-analogue converter solves this in minutes. We stock audio converters, HDMI audio extractors and adapters from Cadyce, Etzin and other brands, from about ₹850.
Common types of audio converters
- Digital to analogue (DAC) converters: optical or coaxial input to RCA and 3.5 mm output. Connect a TV to older speakers or amplifiers.
- Analogue to digital converters: RCA input to optical or coaxial output.
- HDMI audio extractors: take audio from an HDMI signal and output it as optical or analogue, for projectors and older AV receivers.
- HDMI ARC converters: extract audio from a TV's HDMI ARC port to analogue or optical.
- Bluetooth audio receivers and transmitters: add Bluetooth to speakers or send TV audio to wireless headphones.
Choosing the right converter
- Check the source output: optical, coaxial, HDMI, HDMI ARC or analogue.
- Check the destination input: RCA, 3.5 mm, optical or XLR.
- Audio format: most simple converters need the TV set to PCM output; Dolby Digital may be silent on basic DACs.
- Power: most converters need USB power from a TV port or adapter.
Setting up a TV to speaker converter
Connect an optical cable from the TV to the converter, then RCA or 3.5 mm cables from the converter to your speakers or amplifier. In the TV's sound settings, select "Optical" or "External speaker" output and set the digital audio format to "PCM" or "Stereo".
When a converter is not enough
If you want surround sound or Dolby Atmos from your TV, an AV receiver or soundbar with HDMI eARC is a better solution than a simple converter. Our team can recommend the right path.
Avoiding hum and noise
Use good cables, keep audio cables away from power cables, and power the converter from the same power strip as your amplifier to reduce ground loop hum.

FAQs about Audio Converter
Why is there no sound from my converter?

Yes, if the set-top box has an optical, coaxial or HDMI output matching the converter input.
Do you offer replacements for faulty units?
Yes. Faulty products are covered by warranty and our 7-day return policy.
