Denon Amplifier AVR-1800H

Denon AVR-X1800H – 7.2 Channel 8K AV Receiver with Dolby Atmos

The Denon AVR-X1800H is a 7.2-channel AV receiver that anchors a modern home theatre: 80 watts per channel of Denon amplification, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding for height-based surround sound, and HDMI connectivity that handles 8K video and next-generation gaming consoles. It is equally at home driving a dedicated theatre room or a living-room 5.1.2 setup, with HEOS built-in streaming and Audyssey room correction to make it sound right in your space.

Key features

• 7.2 channels, 80 W per channel (8 ohm, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2 channels driven)
• Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization for non-height setups
• Six HDMI inputs and one output; three inputs support 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz
• HDMI eARC for uncompressed audio from the TV
• Audyssey MultEQ XT room calibration with supplied microphone
• HEOS built-in for multi-room streaming, plus Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2
• 4K/8K upscaling, HDR10 Plus, Dolby Vision and HLG pass-through
• Phono input for a turntable, and gaming features including VRR and ALLM

Immersive audio, properly decoded

Atmos and DTS:X place sounds in three-dimensional space rather than fixed channels, so rain falls above you and aircraft pass overhead. Run a 5.1.2 layout with two height speakers, or let Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization simulate height effects from a standard 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system. Audyssey MultEQ XT measures your room from multiple positions and corrects timing and frequency problems caused by walls and furniture – the single biggest sound upgrade most rooms can get.

Video and gaming ready

Three HDMI inputs handle 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz signals, so a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or gaming PC runs at full specification, with Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode keeping gameplay smooth and responsive. All six inputs support HDCP 2.3, and HDR formats including Dolby Vision and HDR10 Plus pass through untouched to the display.

Streaming and everyday use

HEOS streams music from popular services and shares it to other HEOS rooms; Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 cover phones and tablets, and Bluetooth headphone output lets you listen late without waking the house. Voice control works through Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. A second zone pre-out feeds another room, and the phono stage keeps vinyl in the system.

Building the system around it

The AVR-X1800H suits speaker packages from compact satellites to full-size towers in small and medium rooms. A 5.1.2 layout – five ear-level speakers, one subwoofer and two height speakers – is the natural target; add a second subwoofer later using the dual sub outputs for smoother bass across seats. Gamers can centralise console and PC through the receiver, and movie households can let eARC bring TV apps’ audio back through the same speakers.

For a first serious theatre or an upgrade from an older receiver, the AVR-X1800H covers every current format without demanding flagship money.
