Marantz Cinema 70s – 7.2 Channel Slimline 8K Dolby Atmos Network Av Receiver

Marantz Cinema 70s – Slimline 7.2 Channel 8K AV Receiver

The Marantz Cinema 70s answers a practical problem: most AV receivers are too tall for media units and low-profile TV furniture. At just 109 mm high, the 70s is a slimline receiver that still delivers a full 7.2-channel Dolby Atmos experience – 50 watts per channel, six HDMI inputs with 8K support, Audyssey room correction and HEOS streaming, wrapped in Marantz’s current industrial design with the signature porthole display.

Key features

• Slimline chassis only 109 mm high – fits standard media furniture
• 7.2 channels at 50 W per channel (8 ohm, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.08% THD)
• Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D immersive audio decoding
• Six HDMI inputs, one output – three inputs support 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz
• HDMI eARC, HDR10 Plus, Dolby Vision and HLG pass-through
• Audyssey MultEQ room calibration with supplied microphone
• HEOS built-in multi-room streaming, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2
• Phono (MM) input for turntables

Small cabinet, full Marantz sound

Marantz receivers are voiced for musicality – warmth and detail rather than sheer aggression – and the 70s keeps that character. It drives a 5.1.2 Atmos layout in a typical living room with composure, and Audyssey MultEQ measures and corrects the room’s effect on timing and frequency response, which is where most of the audible improvement in an average room comes from. Dual subwoofer outputs help smooth bass across seats.

Video and gaming

Three HDMI inputs take 8K or 4K/120 Hz sources, so current consoles and gaming PCs run at full specification, with the gaming features modern receivers pass through to compatible displays. All inputs are HDCP 2.3 compliant, and the on-screen setup assistant walks through speaker configuration and calibration in plain language – Marantz’s setup routine remains one of the friendliest in the category.

Streaming and control

HEOS streams from major music services and expands to other rooms; Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 handle phones; voice control works via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. A front USB port covers local files, and the receiver integrates with home automation over IP control.

Living with a slimline receiver

The 109 mm height fits shelves and media units that exclude full-size receivers, but leave the ventilation slots breathing room – slimline amplifiers still dissipate heat through the top panel. Pair the 70s with speakers of average or better sensitivity for best results in larger rooms, and let Audyssey do its work before judging the sound: in most living rooms the calibration is responsible for more of the final quality than any cable choice.

If your rack space is limited but your expectations are not, the Cinema 70s is the receiver that respects both.
