Description
Argon Audio FENRIS A5 Active Bookshelf Speaker Pair
Argon Audio FENRIS A5 is an active stereo bookshelf speaker pair with built-in Class D amplification. HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, optical and analogue inputs let it form a compact listening system for television, music and a suitable turntable without a separate stereo power amplifier.
Why Choose Argon Audio FENRIS A5?
Its four-channel amplifier design drives the woofers and tweeters separately, with the manufacturer listing two 50W woofer channels and two 25W tweeter channels. Use the MM phono connection only with an appropriate turntable output. The USB connection is for firmware, not computer USB audio playback.
Key Features
- Built-in amplification: keeps the stereo system compact.
- HDMI ARC: receives compatible television audio.
- Bluetooth 5.0: supports compatible wireless playback.
- MM phono input: accommodates a suitable turntable connection.
Best Suited For
Compact stereo music and television listening where integrated speaker amplification reduces the number of separate components. Select the source connection for the actual device and keep the left and right speakers positioned for the listening area. Active stereo speakers are not automatically a complete multichannel surround system.
Setup and Connection Guide
Follow the manufacturer’s speaker-link wiring, connect the mains-powered cabinet and choose the correct source input. Position the pair at similar listening distances and experiment with spacing and rear-wall clearance. Start at a low level, check both channels and configure a compatible television output when using ARC or optical. Use the specified phono or line input according to the turntable’s output.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I connect it like passive speakers to an amplifier’s speaker outputs?
Use the specified source-level connections. FENRIS A5 has its own amplification and is not intended as a passive load on another power amplifier. Follow the supplied speaker-link wiring instructions.
Do active speakers need a separate power amplifier?
Their built-in amplification supplies the speaker system. They still require the specified mains connection and source equipment, but a separate stereo power amplifier is not part of the normal setup.
Does an HDMI ARC connection guarantee surround playback?
ARC is a connection feature, not a promise of multichannel speaker output. Configure a supported stereo audio format and follow the speaker and television guidance.
