This Apple-branded adapter lets you connect Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices (such as external drives or Thunderbolt displays) to a computer’s Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) or USB 4 port. It also supports the reverse direction: connecting Thunderbolt 3 devices to a Mac with a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 port. Note that this adapter does not support standard DisplayPort or Mini-DisplayPort displays—only Thunderbolt/Thunderbolt 2 displays.
