The Epson EH-TW9400 is a dedicated home cinema projector built around Epson’s 3LCD technology and 4K PRO-UHD enhancement, which shifts each frame to display twice the detail of Full HD. It produces 2,600 lumens of equal colour and white brightness, a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,200,000:1 and full DCI-P3 colour in Digital Cinema mode. Contrast and 4K PRO-UHD detail

The TW9400’s headline numbers work together: the 1,200,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, driven by an automatic iris, gives dark scenes genuine depth rather than flat grey, while 4K Enhancement shifts the 0.74-inch panels to put 4K detail on screen from UHD Blu-ray and streaming sources up to 60 Hz. Detail Enhancement and Super Resolution processing sharpen edges and textures without the artificial look of heavy digital enhancement, and 10-bit colour processing with 1.07 billion colours keeps gradients smooth in skies and shadows.

Motorised optics and lens memory

Installation is where this projector separates itself from simpler rivals. The 2.1x motorised zoom covers a throw ratio of 1.35 to 2.84 – a 100-inch image from about 3.0 to 6.3 metres – and the powered lens shift moves the image up to plus or minus 96.3% vertically and plus or minus 47.1% horizontally, so the projector rarely needs to sit in the perfect spot. Ten lens memories store zoom, focus and shift together, letting a CinemaScope screen switch between 2.35:1 films and 16:9 television at the touch of a button.

Colour and HDR for film viewing

In Digital Cinema mode the TW9400 reproduces 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space used to master films, so colours match the director’s intent rather than a television approximation. HDR10 and HLG formats are supported, frame interpolation smooths fast pans and sport, and ISF certification means a calibrator can lock in day and night presets to reference accuracy. Active 3D playback is also supported for collections that still use it.

Built for a dedicated system

There are no built-in speakers: the TW9400 is designed to sit in a system with an AV receiver and separate speakers, as a serious cinema room expects. Two HDMI inputs (one with HDCP 2.2) handle 4K HDR sources, alongside VGA, USB, RS-232C and Ethernet for control. The 250 W UHE lamp is rated 3,500 hours in Normal mode and 5,000 hours in Eco mode, and Eco running drops fan noise to 20 dB from 31 dB, keeping the projector unobtrusive behind the seating.
