Xgimi Halo Plus Projector

XGIMI Halo+ Projector: 1080p Portable Cinema With a Built-In Battery

The XGIMI Halo+ is the original Halo Plus: a portable Full HD smart projector that combines a 1080p DLP picture, a built-in battery, Harman Kardon speakers and Android TV in a 1.6 kg body you can carry from room to room or take outdoors. It is built around XGIMI’s Intelligent Screen Adaption (ISA) technology, which focuses the image, corrects keystone, aligns the picture to your screen and steers around obstacles automatically, so setup takes seconds rather than a session with a tripod and a tape measure. With 900 ANSI lumens of LED brightness, it is designed for dim rooms, bedrooms, balconies and evening outdoor viewing rather than bright, sunlit spaces.

Key features

• Native 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution (DLP, 0.33 inch DMD)
• 900 ANSI lumens LED brightness with HDR10 and HLG support
• Intelligent Screen Adaption: auto focus, auto keystone, screen alignment and obstacle avoidance
• Dual 5W Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS-HD
• Android TV 10.0 with Chromecast built in
• Built-in 59.4Wh battery for cordless viewing
• Low-latency game mode at 26.5 ms

Picture quality

The Halo+ projects a native 1080p image at sizes up to 200 inches, with a 1.2:1 throw ratio that fills a large screen from a short distance. The LED light source is rated for 25,000 hours, so there are no lamps to replace over the projector’s life. HDR10 and HLG decoding improves contrast and colour on supported content, and XGIMI’s X-VUE 2.0 image engine with MEMC motion compensation keeps fast-moving sport and action scenes smooth. Images are sharp enough for films and streamed series at typical portable-projector screen sizes, and the projector accepts 2K and 4K source material, downscaling it to its native Full HD output.

Automatic setup with ISA

Intelligent Screen Adaption is what makes the Halo+ practical as a take-anywhere projector. Place it down, switch it on, and it focuses itself, squares the image with automatic keystone correction, fits the picture to an available screen or wall area, and can shift the image to avoid obstacles such as light switches and picture frames. That removes the main friction of portable projection: you do not need a perfectly placed shelf, a level surface or ten minutes of menu adjustments every time you move it.

Sound by Harman Kardon

Two 5W Harman Kardon speakers are built in, with support for Dolby Audio, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD and DTS Studio Sound. For films, streamed shows and casual listening in a bedroom or outdoors, the internal speakers are loud and clear enough that no external speaker is required. The Halo+ can also work as a Bluetooth speaker for music from a phone, and a 3.5 mm output is provided for headphones or an external system when you want one.

Smart features, gaming and connections

Android TV 10.0 gives access to thousands of apps through the Google Play Store, with Chromecast built in for casting from Android phones and Chrome, and Google Assistant voice control from the Bluetooth remote. A dedicated game mode drops input latency to 26.5 ms, which is responsive enough for casual and console gaming on a big screen. Connections are simple: one HDMI 2.0 input for consoles, laptops and streaming devices, one USB 2.0 port for media playback, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Inside are 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage for apps and downloads.

Battery and portability

The built-in 59.4Wh battery delivers up to 2.5 hours of video playback or up to 5 hours of music playback on a charge, enough for most films without a power point nearby. At 113.5 x 145 x 171.5 mm and 1.6 kg, the Halo+ fits in a backpack and runs quietly at under 30 dB. It is as comfortable on a bedroom ceiling or a campsite as it is on a living-room shelf.

If you want a big picture without dedicating a room to it, the Halo+ remains one of the most complete portable projectors of its generation: genuine battery freedom, automatic setup, proper Harman Kardon sound and a bright 1080p image in a single compact unit.
