The Elite Screens Aeon AR120H-A8K is a 120-inch fixed frame projection screen in 16:9 format, built around Elite’s CineWhite A8K material. Two ideas define it. The first is the EDGE FREE frame: instead of a wide velvet border, the material wraps around a slim internal aluminium frame and is finished with an ultra-thin black bezel, so the screen reads on the wall like a very large flat-panel television and almost all of its footprint is picture. The second is acoustic transparency. The CineWhite A8K surface is an ultra-fine knitted weave that lets sound pass through with minimal attenuation, which means the centre speaker, and the left and right speakers if the layout allows, can sit directly behind the screen, exactly where cinema sound engineers intend dialogue to come from.

Why speakers belong behind the screen

In a conventional layout the centre speaker sits below the picture, so dialogue is anchored noticeably lower than the faces on screen. Placing the centre channel behind an acoustically transparent screen aligns the sound with the image: voices come from the actors, effects pan across the front stage at picture height, and the front three speakers can all sit at the same ear-level line, which is how film mixes are produced. The A8K weave is designed to make that placement practical, combining sound transparency with a surface fine enough that 4K and 8K pixel structures do not beat against the weave to form moire patterns.

Frame, tension and fitting

A fixed frame holds the material under constant, even tension, so the surface stays flat in a way no retractable screen can guarantee over time; waves and curled edges have nowhere to form. The lightweight aluminium split-frame assembles in sections, the material is secured with springs for a taut finish, and sliding wall brackets allow the whole screen to be shifted horizontally after hanging so the image can be centred precisely on the projector’s axis. The design also permits stud-wall installation. An LED backlight kit is offered by the manufacturer as a separate optional accessory for rooms where a halo effect is wanted.

CineWhite A8K is a matte white material, and like all matte white surfaces it performs best where light can be controlled: it rewards a darkened room with accurate colour and clean contrast, rather than fighting ambient light. It is compatible with ultra-short-throw, short-throw and standard-throw projectors, which gives freedom in projector placement, and the wide viewing angle suits rooms with broad seating.
