The Behringer EUROLIVE B212D is a powered two-way PA loudspeaker with a 12-inch long-excursion woofer and a 1.35-inch aluminium-diaphragm compression driver, driven by bi-amplified Class D power totalling 550 watts peak. An integrated sound processor, optical limiter and two-band EQ are built in, so the cabinet works as a complete sound reinforcement unit for live music, DJs, presentations and rehearsal rooms without an external amplifier.

Power and bi-amping

Two separate Class D amplifiers drive the drivers individually: the low-frequency amplifier is rated at 280 W RMS and 450 W peak, and the high-frequency amplifier at 65 W RMS and 100 W peak, giving the 550 W peak total. Because each driver has its own amplifier and an active crossover at 2.4 kHz, amplification is matched to each driver, improving control over a passive crossover design. The switch-mode power supply keeps weight down, draws only the power the programme material needs and helps the speaker run cool through a long event. Behringer rates the system at a maximum sound pressure level of 125 dB at 1 metre.

Processor control and protection

An integrated sound processor supervises the output. A dynamic equaliser, controlled by the processor, adjusts the tonal balance as levels change, and an optical limiter protects the drivers at high output by controlling peaks cleanly. Subtle changes to crossover behaviour and bass content near the limit allow the speaker to keep playing loudly without harsh distortion or driver damage. For the user, this means the cabinet can be worked hard at a live event with a safety net that a passive speaker and separate amplifier do not provide.

Inputs and everyday control

The ultra-low noise Mic/Line input accepts XLR and 1/4-inch TRS connectors, both servo-balanced with 20 kohm input impedance, sensitivity from -40 dBu to +4 dBu and a maximum input level of +22 dBu. A level control with a clip LED sets the input gain, and the dedicated two-band EQ, centred at 80 Hz for the low band and 12 kHz for the high band with ±15 dB of adjustment, allows quick tonal correction for a boomy room or a dull recording. An additional XLR line output links the signal to further powered speakers for larger rooms or monitor feeds.

Cabinet and positioning

The trapezoidal enclosure measures 550 x 345 x 270 mm and weighs 14.5 kg, with handles shaped for carrying and setup by one person. It mounts on a standard 35 mm speaker pole for main PA use, stands on top of a subwoofer, or tilts onto its side as an on-stage floor monitor wedge, covering several roles in a small PA inventory. The large-format exponential horn gives wide dispersion, so a single cabinet covers a broad listening area evenly.

For solo performers, mobile DJs and small venues, the B212D concentrates amplifier, processing and loudspeaker in one cabinet that sets up in minutes and scales by linking additional units.
