Jbl Boombox 2

JBL Boombox 2 – Portable Bluetooth Party Speaker with 24 Hours Playtime

The JBL Boombox 2 is the biggest sound JBL puts in a carry-anywhere speaker: twin woofers, twin tweeters and dual passive radiators in a waterproof boombox body, powered by a battery rated for up to 24 hours of playtime. It is built for outdoor gatherings, terrace parties and any room where a small speaker simply runs out of volume – and it keeps the signature JBL bass weight while doing it.

Key features

• JBL Original Pro Sound with two woofers, two tweeters and dual passive radiators
• Up to 160 W total output power on mains power (2 x 40 W woofers, 2 x 40 W tweeters)
• Up to 24 hours of playtime from the built-in 10,000 mAh battery
• IPX7 waterproof – survives full immersion up to 1 metre for 30 minutes
• Bluetooth 5.1 wireless streaming with PartyBoost multi-speaker pairing
• Built-in powerbank charges phones and tablets over USB
• 3.5 mm auxiliary input for wired sources
• Iconic carry handle and rugged outdoor-ready construction

Power that scales with the party

Plugged into the mains, the Boombox 2 delivers its full output – 40 watts to each woofer and 40 watts to each tweeter. On battery it runs a slightly reduced but still commanding output, which is how it stretches playback to a full day. The dual passive radiators move with the woofers to extend low-frequency output without ports, keeping the enclosure sealed against water and dust.

Made for outdoors

IPX7 waterproofing means poolside splashes, rain showers and beach days are non-events; the speaker can even be rinsed off. PartyBoost lets you pair two JBL PartyBoost-compatible speakers for true stereo, or link several together for bigger spaces. When a phone runs low mid-party, the USB charge-out port tops it up from the speaker’s battery.

Everyday practicality

At 5.9 kg with a proper handle, the Boombox 2 is luggable rather than pocketable – the trade-off for genuine low-end output. A full recharge takes about 6.5 hours, and Bluetooth 5.1 holds a stable connection across a garden or hall. For home use it doubles as a high-output soundbar alternative under a television via the aux input.

Battery care and ownership

The lithium battery is happiest with regular use and partial top-ups rather than deep discharges; a full charge takes about 6.5 hours and covers a full day of playback at typical party volumes. The grille and housing wipe clean after outdoor use, and the IPX7 sealing covers the ports as well – just ensure the port cover is closed before the speaker goes near water. Store it charged to around half if it will sit unused for months.

If you want one speaker that covers a house party indoors and a weekend outdoors without a second thought, the Boombox 2 remains the benchmark big portable.
