AKG P5 S Dynamic Vocal Microphone with Switch
AKG P5 S is a wired dynamic vocal microphone with a supercardioid pickup pattern and an on/off switch. It suits singers and presenters who want local control at the microphone, with a metal body and an integrated windscreen for everyday stage and rehearsal use.
Why Choose AKG P5 S?
The switch is useful when a microphone is shared or set aside between songs. This is the P5 S; the automatic device-recognition features associated with the different P5i model do not describe this microphone.
Key Features
- Supercardioid pickup: helps reduce sound outside the main pickup area.
- On/off switch: provides local control between performances.
- Integrated windscreen: helps reduce breath and plosive noise.
- Metal body and mesh grille: practical construction for repeated handling.
Best Suited For
Live sound, rehearsal rooms and recording setups with a suitable microphone preamp.
Setup and Connection Guide
Connect the XLR output to a microphone input, begin with the channel level down and set gain while the source performs at its loudest expected level. Listen for clipping and unwanted room pickup before adding EQ. Keep speakers out of the main pickup direction and secure cables so movement does not pull on the connector.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it need a battery?
No. The passive dynamic capsule needs no battery. Connect it to a microphone input with an XLR cable; the mixer, interface or PA system provides the required gain.
What else do I need?
Plan a suitable XLR cable, a microphone input and any stand or clip required by the position. A computer needs an audio interface; a microphone alone does not amplify sound into a room.
How should I choose the microphone position?
Start with a consistent working distance, listen through the actual system and make small position changes. A closer placement changes the balance of direct sound, room pickup and low frequencies.
