The unidirectional pickup pattern concentrates on the voice directly in front of the gooseneck and reduces pickup of keyboards, telephones, fans and crowd noise around the desk. The 50Hz to 10,000Hz response covers the full range of speech fundamentals and consonants, which is what makes names, platform numbers and instructions understandable over loudspeakers at the far end of a hall. Sensitivity of 2.0mV/Pa gives a healthy output level into a standard PA amplifier microphone input, and the 600 ohm impedance suits the long cable runs that are normal between a desk and an equipment rack.

Simple connection, long reach

The ACM-96 arrives with its cable already fitted: 6 metres of twin core shielded low noise cable ending in a 6.3mm phone plug, the standard microphone input connector on Ahuja PA amplifiers and most mixer amplifiers. Shielding keeps hum and interference down along the run, and six metres is enough to route the cable neatly off the desk, along a wall or under a counter instead of leaving it stretched across a walkway. Because the microphone is dynamic, the same cable carries the signal with no separate power feed to arrange.
