Two zones from one amplifier
The defining feature of the TZA-4000EM is that its two zones are genuinely independent speaker groups. In mono mode both groups operate at the same time with their own levels and on/off control, which suits buildings where areas need different programme at different levels. Each zone also has its own line input and line output, so an external mixer can feed one zone while a booster amplifier extends the other, and a preamplifier output allows the programme to be recorded.
Inputs and programme handling
Six microphone inputs at 0.6 mV accept the wired and wireless microphones used for speech, sermons and assemblies, while two auxiliary inputs at 100 mV, a stereo input at 200 mV and line inputs at 1 V take music players, keyboards and other electronic sources. Stereo operation gives music and DJ programmes proper left-right presentation through a single zone, and the amplifier switches to mono when the two zones are run as separate groups. Bass and treble controls of plus or minus 10 dB at 100 Hz and 10 kHz provide the tonal adjustment most installations need. Frequency response is 50 to 15,000 Hz plus or minus 3 dB, with a 60 dB signal-to-noise ratio.
Speaker matching and protection
Each zone provides 4 ohm, 8 ohm, 70 V and 100 V outputs, so low-impedance box speakers and long 100 V line runs of ceiling, column or horn speakers can be mixed across the two zones. The box speaker and driver unit selector on each zone defeats the bass boost when driver units are connected, protecting them from low-frequency energy. Output regulation stays within 2 dB between no load and full load at 1 kHz.

The amplifier operates on 220 to 240 V AC at 50/60 Hz and transfers instantly to 24 V DC, supplied by two 12 V car batteries, when the AC supply fails. Power consumption is 700 VA on AC and 9 A on DC. A resettable circuit breaker protects against overload and short circuit.
