AKG C414 XLII Overview

The AKG C414 multi-pattern condenser microphone needs no introduction. Because of its capacity to handle a wide range of sources, it has been employed in some of the world’s best broadcast facilities, recording studios, and performance venues. AKG has stepped up its game with the release of the C414 XLII, which enhances the C414’s already famous versatility. With nine polar patterns, cutting-edge technology, cutting-edge components, and reference-quality results, the AKG C414 XLII condenser microphone sets a new bar for microphone flexibility.

Sonic Character of the Legendary AKG C12

The C414 XLII has been enhanced by adding a little presence increase and the spatial reproduction capacity of the iconic AKG C12 microphone. This distinct reaction and spatial details distinguish lead singers and solo instruments even in a thick mix. This trademark frontal sound also works well for remote miking applications, making the C414 XLII perfect for classical music or percussion ambience miking.

Significant control features provide significant versatility.

If the nine polar patterns are insufficient to get the desired sound, the C414 XLII provides a plethora of additional control choices to fine-tune the microphone to your specifications. The C414 XLII has three bass cut filters and three switchable pre-attenuation pads: 6dB, 12dB, and -18 dB. The mic also has a clipping LED on the face, which lets you know if you’re overloading it. In addition, all controls may be readily deactivated for live sound applications.

Nine polar motifs for various uses.

This multi-pattern workhorse microphone sounds great on almost anything. The C414 XLII features nine pickup patterns, allowing you to select the ideal configuration for every application. In addition to the C414’s five standard patterns (omnidirectional, broad cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure-8), four intermediate settings allow you to select the optimum in-between pattern for your application and environment.
