Denon AVR-S770H 7.2 Channel AV Receiver

Denon AVR-S770H – 7.2 Channels of 8K Atmos Cinema Without Flagship Pricing

The Denon AVR-S770H is a 7.2-channel 8K AV receiver that brings proper home cinema within reach. Its seven discrete amplifier channels deliver 75 W per channel and can be arranged as a 7.2 system or as a 5.2.2 layout with two height speakers, while dual subwoofer outputs let you smooth bass across the seating area instead of accepting one loud seat and one quiet one.

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding handle object-based soundtracks, and Denon’s Setup Assistant with Audyssey MultEQ room correction walks a first-time buyer through speaker configuration and calibration step by step. Add six HDMI inputs, three of them 8K-capable, plus HEOS multi-room streaming, and the S770H covers films, games and music from one central component.

Atmos and gaming, ready for current displays

The S770H is built around the current generation of sources. Its 8K-ready HDMI stage passes 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, carries HDR10 Plus and Dolby Vision, and supports the variable refresh rate and auto low latency features that modern consoles use to keep gameplay smooth and responsive. Height virtualisation can suggest overhead effects from a system without height speakers, but the receiver rewards adding two: a 5.2.2 layout is the point where Atmos stops being a badge and becomes a soundfield.

Setup, calibration and streaming

Denon’s on-screen Setup Assistant checks connections, assigns speakers and guides the Audyssey microphone positions, and MultEQ then corrects for the room’s influence on each channel, including the subwoofers. For music, HEOS built in streams services and network files and can send audio to other HEOS speakers around the home, while AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and a moving-magnet phono input cover phones and turntables. Voice-assistant compatibility and the Denon AVR app round out day-to-day control. The guided routine means a correctly configured system on the first evening, not a weekend spent reading forums and remeasuring speaker distances.
