Edifier TWS1 Pro Dark Grey

Edifier TWS1 Pro (Dark Grey)

The Edifier TWS1 Pro in Dark Grey is the original TWS1 Pro true wireless earbud — the generation built around Qualcomm’s QCC3040 chipset, Bluetooth 5.2 and aptX Adaptive audio, with a 12-hour earbud battery and an IP65 dust and water resistance rating. It is worth naming the generation precisely, because the later TWS1 Pro 2 is a different product with active noise cancellation, Bluetooth 5.3 and SBC-only codecs. This listing is the first Pro: no ANC, but the stronger codec support, the longer battery life and the higher IP rating of the two.

That trade shapes who the TWS1 Pro suits. It is an earbud for listeners who spend their day in music, podcasts and calls and would rather have aptX-quality audio and a battery that lasts the week than noise cancellation. Twelve hours from the earbuds alone covers most working days without the case; with the charging case the total reaches 42 hours, and a full recharge of the earbuds takes about 40 minutes, so a flat battery is a short interruption rather than the end of the day’s listening.

Key features

• Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, aptX and SBC codec support
• Bluetooth 5.2 on the Qualcomm QCC3040 chipset
• Up to 12 hours playback per charge, 42 hours total with the case
• IP65 dust and water resistance for workouts and rain
• PU and titanium diaphragm drivers for detailed sound
• cVc 8.0 noise cancellation for clearer calls
• TrueWireless Mirroring for seamless single and dual ear use
• Touch controls including volume, in the Dark Grey finish

Sound and codecs

The TWS1 Pro’s second-generation aptX Adaptive support is its headline audio feature: the codec combines aptX HD quality with aptX Low Latency behaviour and switches dynamically between them depending on content and conditions, so music gets the bitrate and video and games get the synchronisation. On phones without aptX it falls back gracefully to standard codecs. The drivers use a PU and titanium composite diaphragm, chosen to keep the diaphragm stiff and light so detail and vocal clarity survive at low volume, across a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response.

Calls, fit and everyday use

Dual microphones with Qualcomm cVc 8.0 processing work on the call side, suppressing surrounding noise so the voice the other end hears stays intelligible in a street or a station. TrueWireless Mirroring keeps both earbuds connected to the phone in parallel, which makes swapping between one earbud and two seamless and keeps the connection stable when one bud returns to the case. The IP65 rating means sweat, dust and rainy commutes are non-events, and touch controls on the earbuds — including volume, a control many earbuds omit — handle playback and calls without reaching for the phone. The Dark Grey finish keeps the design understated, with ivory as the range’s alternative colour.

Battery in practice

The figures translate into a simple routine: charge the case occasionally, use the earbuds all day. Twelve hours per charge is roughly fifty percent more than the previous TWS1 generation offered, and the case’s additional 30 hours means most users recharge the system weekly rather than nightly. Fast charging returns a full earbud charge in about 40 minutes, which suits the commute-and-office rhythm the TWS1 Pro was designed for.

As the original TWS1 Pro, this Dark Grey version remains the pick of the line for codec quality, battery life and weather resistance — a well-rounded true wireless earbud for music and calls, honestly specified and easy to live with.
