JBL Tune 230NC TWS Earbuds

JBL Tune 230NC TWS Earbuds

The JBL Tune 230NC TWS are true wireless in-ear earbuds with active noise cancelling, built around 6 mm dynamic drivers and JBL Pure Bass sound. They are made for listeners who want the quiet and focus of noise cancelling on commutes, in offices and on trains, without moving up to flagship earbud pricing. Adaptive noise cancelling reduces the surrounding din, while Ambient Aware and TalkThru modes let outside sound back in when crossing a road or holding a quick conversation, all controlled by touch on the earbuds themselves.

Sound and noise cancelling

The 6 mm dynamic driver in each earbud is tuned for JBL Pure Bass sound, with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, 16 ohm impedance and 105 dB sensitivity, so the earbuds play loudly and cleanly from a phone without strain. Maximum sound pressure level is 95 dB. The noise cancelling is adaptive, adjusting to the environment, and it earns its place on transport and in open offices where engine drone, air conditioning and crowd noise otherwise sit underneath every track and call. When awareness matters more than isolation, Ambient Aware passes the surroundings through, and TalkThru drops the music and amplifies speech so a short conversation does not require removing an earbud.

Battery life and charging

Each earbud carries a 70 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery, giving up to 10 hours of music with Bluetooth on and noise cancelling off, or up to 8 hours with noise cancelling on. The charging case, with its 750 mAh battery, extends total playtime to up to 40 hours. A full charge from empty takes about 2 hours, and speed charging gives up to 2 hours of playback from a 10-minute charge, which covers the common case of earbuds found empty just before leaving. The case charges over USB Type-C at 5 V, 1 A.

Calls, fit and daily use

Four built-in microphones handle voice pickup for hands-free calls, with microphone sensitivity of -38 dBV per Pa at 1 kHz, keeping speech intelligible on busy streets. Each earbud weighs just 5.1 g and the case 47.3 g, so the set disappears into a pocket. The stick-closed design is shaped for an all-day comfortable fit, three sizes of eartips are included to get the seal right, and IPX4 resistance covers workouts and rain. Bluetooth 5.2 supports the A2DP, AVRCP and HFP profiles, touch controls manage playback and calls, and the JBL Headphones app lets the listener adjust the equaliser, check the fit and locate the earbuds. The listing is for the white finish.
