Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini Bone Conduction Headphones (Orange)

The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini is the flagship open-ear sports headphone from Shokz in its compact Mini size, finished here in Orange. Its defining technology is DualPitch, a hybrid system that pairs a bone conduction driver for mids and highs with a dedicated 18 mm air conduction speaker for bass — the weakness of earlier bone conduction designs. The result is fuller, clearer sound while both ears stay completely open to traffic, training partners and surroundings. The Mini frame uses a headband about 21 mm (0.83 inch) shorter than the standard version for a closer fit on smaller heads, weighs 30 g, and carries an IP55 rating, Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint, and up to 12 hours of battery life.

Key features

• DualPitch hybrid drivers: bone conduction for mids and highs, air conduction for bass
• Mini fit with a shorter headband for smaller heads and a more secure hold
• Up to 12 hours of playtime, with a 5-minute quick charge adding 2.5 hours
• Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint pairing and a 10 m range
• IP55 sweat and water resistance for training in any weather
• Dual AI noise-cancelling microphones for clear calls outdoors

DualPitch sound, explained

Traditional bone conduction sends the full frequency range through the cheekbones, which works well for voice and midrange but limits deep bass and can introduce vibration at high volumes. DualPitch splits the work: the bone conduction driver handles mids and highs with precision, while a separate air conduction speaker, positioned near but not in the ear canal, produces controlled low frequencies. Shokz quotes sensitivity of 101.3 dB for the bone conduction speaker and 96 dB for the air conduction speaker across a 20 Hz to 20 kHz response. In practice you hear podcasts and calls with the clarity bone conduction does well, and music with a low-end foundation earlier models could not provide. Four preset EQ modes — Standard, Vocal, Bass Boost and Treble Boost — plus Classic Bone Conduction mode and two custom modes in the Shokz app let you tune the balance.

Fit, safety and training use

The open-ear format is the safety case for this headphone: nothing blocks the ear canal, so approaching vehicles, cyclists and other runners remain audible on every run and ride. The wraparound nickel-titanium alloy frame is coated in soft silicone, flexes without losing shape, and the Mini sizing keeps the band snug so the transducers stay correctly placed on the cheekbones instead of shifting during intervals or gym work. At 30 g it is lighter than most sunglasses-and-earbud combinations, and the IP55 rating shrugs off sweat, dust and rain. Physical buttons handle volume, playback and calls reliably with gloves or wet hands.

Calls, battery and charging

Two microphones with AI noise reduction filter out the great majority of ambient noise — Shokz rates the reduction at up to 96.5 percent — so a mid-run call does not sound like one to the person at the other end. The 150 mAh battery delivers up to 12 hours of continuous listening and up to 10 days of standby, charges fully in about 1 hour over USB-C, and the quick-charge function adds 2.5 hours from 5 minutes plugged in. Multipoint pairing keeps a phone and a watch or laptop connected together, switching automatically for calls.

For runners and cyclists who refuse to give up situational awareness but are tired of thin bone conduction sound, the OpenRun Pro 2 Mini in Orange is the most complete open-ear option Shokz makes — and the Mini fit is the one to choose for smaller heads or anyone who wants the band as secure as possible.
