Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 32 Ohm Closed-Back Studio Headphones

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 32 Ohm Studio Headphones

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO is the closed-back reference of the PRO studio family — the headphone you will find in more tracking rooms than any other — and this 32-ohm version is the one voiced for portable sources. Low impedance means phones, laptops, controllers and interfaces drive it to full level without a headphone amplifier, while the closed design and leatherette pads deliver the isolation that tracking, location work and commuting all demand.

Key features

• Closed-back design with strong passive isolation for tracking and travel
• 32-ohm drivers — full volume from phones, laptops and interfaces
• Frequency response of 5Hz to 35,000Hz with Beyerdynamic’s bass-reflex tuning
• 1.6-metre straight cable suited to mobile and desk use
• Leatherette ear pads for maximum isolation, fully replaceable
• Handmade in Germany with serviceable parts throughout

Why the 32-ohm version exists

The DT 770 PRO also comes in 80 and 250 ohm editions for studio consoles and dedicated amplifiers. The 32-ohm model’s shorter cable, leatherette pads and low driving requirement mark it as the portable and all-source version: plug it into anything with a headphone socket and it performs. Podcasters recording into USB interfaces, producers sketching on laptops and listeners who want genuine studio sound on the move all land on this variant.

Sound and isolation

The closed earcups keep click tracks out of microphones and train noise out of your ears. The tuning carries the family’s character — extended, detailed treble and a low end with genuine weight, shaped by the bass-reflex system — making it equally useful for checking low-frequency content on mixes and for enjoying bass-led music.

Built for decades of use

A steel spring headband, robust yokes and replaceable pads, cable and headband parts mean the DT 770 PRO is maintained rather than replaced. It has been in continuous production because studios trust it; the 32-ohm edition simply makes that same headphone work everywhere else too.

Fit within the PRO range

All three DT 770 PRO impedances share the same drivers, housing and tuning philosophy; they differ in cable, pads and driving requirements. The 32-ohm version’s leatherette pads give the strongest isolation of the three — useful on public transport and in open offices as well as in the studio — and its shorter cable avoids the desk clutter of the longer studio leads. If your sources are the ones you already own and a separate headphone amplifier is not on the shopping list, this is the DT 770 PRO variant designed for exactly that situation, with nothing about the sound traded away to get there.

Pro Audio Video lists the full DT 770 PRO range; this 32-ohm edition is the one to choose for portable players, laptops and interfaces, while the higher-impedance editions suit fixed studio amplifiers. Same headphone family, same German build — matched to the sources you actually use.
