JBL Tune 780NC Wireless Over-Ear Headphones with Adaptive Noise Cancellation (Black)

JBL Tune 780NC Wireless Over-Ear Headphones (Black)

The JBL Tune 780NC is a wireless over-ear headphone with adaptive noise cancelling, built for listeners who spend long stretches in noisy places — flights, trains, open offices and shared homes. Its 40 mm dynamic drivers deliver JBL Pure Bass sound, while the adaptive cancellation adjusts to changing surroundings instead of applying one fixed level of reduction. When you need to hear the world again, Smart Ambient modes let outside sound in without removing the headphones.

Battery life is the other headline: up to 76 hours of music playback with Bluetooth on and noise cancelling off, and up to 50 hours with cancelling on. A five-minute top-up adds about five hours, and a full charge takes around two hours. Dual pairing keeps two devices connected at once, so a laptop and a phone can share the headphones through the working day.

Noise cancelling that adapts

Fixed cancellation suits a fixed noise, but real days are not fixed: a train is loud, the platform is louder, the office is quieter again. Adaptive cancelling responds to those changes, while Ambient Aware keeps you conscious of announcements and traffic, and TalkThru drops the music and lifts voices so a short conversation does not need the headphones removed. VoiceAware lets you hear your own voice naturally on calls, which stops the raised-voice habit that sealed headphones can cause.

Two devices, one working day

Multipoint connection is the feature that changes daily habits. Stay paired to a laptop for video and a phone for calls simultaneously; when the phone rings, the headphones switch, and when the call ends, the laptop audio resumes. Google Fast Pair shortens first setup on Android, and the included USB-C to 3.5 mm cable covers wired listening — on a flight, with an in-flight system, or when you simply prefer a cable. Wired response extends from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, against 10 Hz to 20 kHz over Bluetooth.

Sound shaping and fit

Spatial Sound widens the presentation for films and games, and the app EQ lets you trim the Pure Bass emphasis or lift vocals for podcasts. The over-ear cushions surround the ear rather than pressing on it, which suits longer sessions, and the foldable frame travels flatter in a bag. Five microphones handle calls and cancellation duties, with microphone sensitivity rated at minus 38 dBV per Pa.

In Black, the Tune 780NC is the full-feature option in its line: adaptive cancellation, week-scale battery life, spatial sound and dual-device pairing in one foldable over-ear headphone.
