The Optoma EH412 is a Full HD projector built for rooms where the lights stay on: meeting rooms, classrooms, training spaces and halls. Its DLP engine produces 4,500 ANSI lumens at a native 1920 x 1080 resolution with a 50,000:1 contrast ratio, and an sRGB colour profile for colour based on the Rec.709 primaries when used with a PC, Mac or other sRGB source. At 3 kg it is also light enough to move between rooms rather than being fixed to one installation.

Brightness for Working Rooms

Most presentation spaces cannot be blacked out, and a projector specified for a dark cinema will look washed out in them. The EH412’s output is chosen for those conditions: text, spreadsheets and video remain legible for viewers at the back of the room, and the contrast ratio keeps photographs and film clips from flattening into grey. A DICOM simulation mode is also included, which makes the projector suitable for medical education and training presentations where greyscale detail matters; it is a simulation for teaching, not a diagnostic display.

Flexible Placement

The 1.3x zoom lens covers a throw ratio of 1.12 to 1.47, projecting images from about 40 to 300 inches at distances of 1 to 7.5 metres. That range gives installers room to work around ceiling fittings and existing mounts, and vertical keystone correction of plus or minus 40 degrees squares the image when the projector cannot sit perfectly level with the screen. The same flexibility, plus the 3 kg weight, makes the EH412 practical as a shared unit carried between rooms.

Connections and Control

Two HDMI inputs cover modern and legacy sources: one HDMI 2.0 input and one HDMI 1.4a input with MHL for compatible mobile devices. VGA input and output support older laptops and monitor pass-through, audio inputs and outputs handle external sound, and a USB-A port supplies power for a streaming stick or wireless dongle. RS232 control allows integration with room control systems, and the built-in 10 W speaker covers presentations without separate audio.

Running Costs and 3D

The lamp is rated at 4,000 hours in Bright mode, 10,000 hours in Eco and 15,000 hours in Dynamic mode, so a projector used for a working day at a time measures lamp life in years. Noise is 26 dB in Eco mode, low enough not to compete with a presenter. Full 3D support is included for compatible educational, design and entertainment content.
