Samsung The Freestyle Portable Projector (SP-LSP3BLA)

Samsung The Freestyle Portable Projector (SP-LSP3BLA)

Samsung The Freestyle is a portable smart projector designed around one idea: point it at any surface and it does the rest. The cylindrical body sits in a cradle that rotates a full 180 degrees, so the picture can land on a wall, a screen or the ceiling without a tripod or mount. Auto keystone corrects the image vertically and horizontally, auto focus sharpens it, and auto levelling squares it up – setup takes seconds, indoors or out.

The picture itself is Full HD 1920 x 1080 from a DLP engine with an LED light source rated up to 20,000 hours, sized anywhere from 30 to 100 inches at a 1.2 throw ratio. Brightness is rated at 550 LED lumens, with HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG support and Samsung’s Crystal Engine and PurColor processing keeping colours natural.

A Smart TV That Fits in One Hand

Unlike most portable projectors that lean on a casting dongle, The Freestyle carries Samsung’s complete Smart TV experience: the major streaming services are certified apps on the platform, joined by a web browser, Samsung TV Plus and SmartThings integration. A phone mirrors with a tap via Tap View, iPhones use AirPlay 2, and the far-field microphone means voice commands work from across the room – ask Bixby, Alexa or Google Assistant to play, search or control the projector. Ambient mode turns the idle projector into a decorative light or information display, and the supplied lens cap even works as a mood-lighting diffuser.

Sound and Connections

The built-in speaker is a 5W 360-degree design that radiates sound in every direction – appropriate for a device that might be facing any wall in the house – and Bluetooth audio lets you pair external speakers or headphones instead. A Micro HDMI input with ARC/eARC takes consoles, laptops and players, and power comes over USB-C: use the supplied adapter at home, or a USB-PD battery pack of 50W/20V or above when there is no socket nearby. At 785 grams including the cradle, The Freestyle is genuinely grab-and-go.

Where The Freestyle Fits

Bedrooms and ceilings, rented flats where a TV mount is not an option, backyard movie nights, kids’ rooms, and travel – anywhere a big screen needs to appear and disappear on demand. The full technical specification is listed in the Additional Information table on this page.
