Bose FreeSpace FS4CE In-Ceiling Loudspeaker (White)

Bose FreeSpace FS4CE In-Ceiling Loudspeaker (White)

The Bose FreeSpace FS4CE, in white, is the in-ceiling model in Bose Professional’s FreeSpace FS range built for places where background music is part of the experience rather than an afterthought. Where the smallest FS models concentrate on paging clarity, the FS4CE steps up to a 4.5-inch full-range transducer with low-frequency extension down to 70 Hz, so music carries body and warmth as well as intelligible vocals. It is also the rugged member of the in-ceiling family: the enclosure is rated IP55 and Bose specifies it for direct-exposure outdoor and wet installations, as well as plenum locations indoors.

Like every FS model, the FS4CE shares its voicing with the rest of the range, so a project can combine in-ceiling, surface-mount and pendant FreeSpace speakers across different rooms and ceiling types while keeping one consistent tonal character throughout the building.

Key features

• 4.5-inch full-range transducer: Larger driver with frequency range down to 70 Hz for fuller background music reproduction.
• IP55 rated enclosure: Designed for outdoor wet installations and direct exposure, with a weather-resistant input cover included.
• 70/100V and 8-ohm operation: Transformer taps up to 40 W plus an 8-ohm bypass for low-impedance amplifiers.
• 145-degree coverage: Wide nominal coverage for even levels across a room with fewer loudspeakers.
• Front-baffle Euroblock input: 6-pin Euroblock connector with loop-through for straightforward distributed wiring.
• Life-safety listings: UL 1480 UUMW listed and EN 54-24 certified for voice alarm and fire signalling systems.
• White finish: White enclosure and perforated steel grille (similar to RAL 9003) with a rotatable, removable logo.

Performance figures

Bose rates the FS4CE with a frequency response of 80 Hz to 16 kHz at -3 dB and a range of 70 Hz to 17 kHz at -10 dB. Sensitivity is 88 dB at 1 W and 1 m, long-term power handling is 40 W on the Bose extended-lifecycle test (50 W on the AES test) with 160 W peak handling, and calculated maximum output reaches 104 dB at 1 m and 110 dB peak. Recommended protection is a high-pass filter at 70 Hz with a minimum slope of 24 dB per octave. No Bose EQ is required for general use, while Bose Professional EQ voicing and SmartBass processing are available within Bose systems.

Built for wet and outdoor locations

The front baffle is engineered plastic chosen for high resistance to UV fading, formed with an integrated steel backcan, and the operating temperature range runs from -25 to 70 degrees Celsius. Those details matter in the places this model is specified: covered terraces, pool and spa areas, washrooms, transport shelters and semi-outdoor dining spaces, where an ordinary indoor ceiling speaker would deteriorate. An aluminium grille accessory is offered by Bose for harsh environments where corrosion resistance needs to go further still.

Installation and system design

The loudspeaker is 272 mm in diameter and 172 mm deep, the backcan measures 220 x 163 mm, and the ceiling cutout is 249 mm. Three mounting arms and a safety cable attachment point secure it in ceilings up to 38 mm thick, and each unit weighs 3.47 kg with its grille. Transformer taps are 2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 40 W at 70 V and 5, 10, 20 and 40 W at 100 V, with the bypass position presenting 8 ohms, so the same model can serve a distributed line in a restaurant and a low-impedance zone elsewhere in the project.

Applications

Restaurants and bars that want atmosphere with real musical weight, retail spaces that run energetic playlists, hotels with covered outdoor areas, and leisure facilities with humid zones are the core applications. The voice alarm certification also makes the FS4CE a practical single choice where one loudspeaker line must handle daily music and emergency announcements together.

With its larger driver, weather rating and professional power handling, the FS4CE in white is the FreeSpace in-ceiling model for venues that take their background music, and their building regulations, seriously.
