Marshall Kilburn III Portable Bluetooth Speaker With 50+ Hours Of Portable Playtime, (360° Sound), Dust & Water-Resistant (IP54) – Brown.

Marshall Kilburn III Portable Bluetooth Speaker

The Marshall Kilburn III is a portable Bluetooth speaker in Marshall’s amplifier-inspired styling, finished here in Brown. It is built around True Stereophonic sound, a stereo driver arrangement that projects 360-degree sound with no blind spot, so the music stays balanced wherever you stand in relation to the speaker. A rechargeable battery gives more than 50 hours of playtime, the cabinet is IP54 dust and water resistant, and tactile top-panel controls in Marshall’s signature style handle volume, bass, treble and playback.

Sound and drivers

Inside the bass reflex cabinet, one 30 W Class D amplifier drives the 4-inch woofer and two 10 W Class D amplifiers drive the pair of 2-inch full-range speakers, for 50 W in total. The stereo arrangement is what Marshall calls True Stereophonic: instead of firing sound in one direction, the Kilburn III spreads it around the speaker, so a listener on the other side of the room hears the same balance as one standing in front. Frequency response runs from 45 Hz to 20 kHz and maximum sound pressure level is 91 dB at 1 metre. Dynamic Loudness continuously adjusts the tonal balance as the volume changes, keeping low-level listening full and higher levels controlled.

Battery and charging

The rechargeable, replaceable lithium-ion battery plays for 50-plus hours between charges. With a 30 W USB-C PD charger, a full recharge takes about 3 hours, and a 20-minute quick charge adds about 8 hours of playtime. The USB-C port also works in reverse as a charging bank, topping up a phone from the speaker’s battery when you are away from a socket. A battery preservation mode, managed in the Marshall Bluetooth app, helps protect long-term battery health when the speaker lives mostly at home.

Controls and connectivity

Bluetooth 5.3 gives a 10-metre wireless range, supports the SBC, LC3 and MPEG-2 AAC codecs, and includes Auracast for broadcasting to compatible speakers and multipoint connection so two devices can stay paired at once. A 3.5 mm auxiliary input covers wired sources. On the top panel, Marshall’s tactile controls adjust volume, bass and treble directly, a media jog handles play, pause and track skipping, and the M-button jumps straight to saved presets. The Marshall Bluetooth app adds equaliser presets, updates and battery settings. There is no built-in microphone.

Design and portability

The Kilburn III measures 273 x 169 x 150 mm and weighs 2.8 kg, compact enough to move from room to room or take into the garden. Its IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes from any direction, so a spill or light rain is not a problem, though it is not made for submersion. Thirty-eight percent of the product is recycled material and it is PVC free. In Brown, it is a speaker chosen as much for how it looks on a shelf as for how long and how well it plays.
