The Denon Home 250 is the mid-size model in Denon’s Home wireless speaker range, listed here in white. It is a stereo speaker in a single cabinet, built around four Class D power amplifiers driving two 19 mm tweeters, two 100 mm woofers and a 133 mm passive bass radiator. HEOS is built in, so the speaker streams music over Wi-Fi, joins a multi-room system with other HEOS products, pairs with a second Home 250 for true stereo, and can serve as wireless surround speakers for the Denon Home Sound Bar 550. High-resolution audio is supported up to 192 kHz / 24-bit, including DSD playback.

Acoustic design

Most single-box speakers reproduce a summed, mono impression of stereo. The Home 250 instead carries a complete stereo driver complement: two tweeters and two woofers, each actively driven by its own Class D amplifier channel, so left and right information stays distinct and the soundstage has real width. The 133 mm passive radiator extends the low-frequency output of the sealed cabinet, giving bass weight that the 295 mm wide enclosure would not suggest. Bass and treble controls in the HEOS app allow the balance to be adjusted for position and taste, for example when the speaker sits close to a wall on a sideboard or kitchen worktop, where boundary reinforcement lifts the low end.

Streaming, formats and control

Dual-band Wi-Fi covers 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g/n) and 5 GHz (802.11a/n/ac) networks. Through HEOS, the speaker accesses major streaming services including Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn and SoundCloud, plays music stored on network devices and USB media, and supports Spotify Connect. File support spans MP3, WMA, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV and DSD formats. Control is by the HEOS app, by the proximity-sensing top panel with its three Quick Select presets, volume and play/pause controls, and by voice through external assistants, since the Home 250 works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Siri via compatible devices on the network. A second Home 250 grouped in the app forms a stereo pair, and HEOS products can play the same music in every room or different music room by room.

Beyond wireless, the rear panel provides a USB port for direct playback of stored music, a 3.5 mm auxiliary input for a wired source such as a turntable preamplifier output or a television headphone socket, and an RJ-45 Ethernet port for installations where a wired network is preferred. The power supply is built in, rated AC 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, with power consumption of 26 W in operation and 0.3 W in deep standby.
