Television

Pro Audio Video stocks 4K, OLED, QLED and Mini LED smart TVs from Sony, Samsung and Hisense, and can pair them with the right soundbar, AV receiver or home theatre system for complete picture and sound. Whether you want a TV for your bedroom, a large-screen centrepiece for your living room, or a premium OLED for a home theatre, our team can help you choose.

TV display technologies

• LED/LCD: affordable, bright and widely available.
• QLED: quantum dot layer for brighter, more vivid colours.
• Mini LED: thousands of tiny backlights for better contrast and brightness control.
• OLED: self-lit pixels with perfect blacks, ideal for dark-room viewing and films.

Choosing the right size

A good rule is a screen diagonal of about half to two-thirds of your viewing distance for 4K. As a guide: 55 inches for about 7 feet, 65 inches for about 8 to 9 feet, and 75 to 85 inches for 10 feet or more. Larger is usually better for immersion, as long as it fits your wall and budget.

Features to compare

• Resolution: 4K is standard; 8K is available on some premium models.
• HDR formats: HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision for streaming content.
• Refresh rate: 100/120 Hz for smoother motion in sport and gaming.
• Gaming features: HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM and 4K/120 Hz for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
• Smart platform: Google TV, Tizen or webOS with Netflix, Prime Video, JioCinema and more.
• Audio: built-in sound and HDMI eARC for connecting soundbars and AV receivers.

Improve your TV's sound

Slim TVs have small speakers. Adding a soundbar or home theatre system gives clearer dialogue and much fuller sound. Connect via HDMI eARC for the best quality and Dolby Atmos.

Wall mounting and installation

Mount the TV so the centre of the screen is roughly at seated eye level. Choose a bracket rated for your TV's size and weight, and plan cable concealment for a clean look.

TV or projector?

TVs are brighter and better in sunlit rooms; projectors offer much larger pictures for the price. Visit our store to compare both.
