Description
7Hz Salnotes Zero – 10mm Dynamic Driver IEM with Metal Composite Diaphragm
The Salnotes Zero is the IEM that made a name for honest tuning on a tight budget. A single 10mm dynamic driver with a metal composite diaphragm and an N52 magnet does the work, voiced for a neutral, balanced sound rather than the heavy bass boost most cheap earphones default to. The shell is lightweight plastic with a stainless steel faceplate, and the cable detaches on standard 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, so a damaged cable is a replacement, not a write-off.
Key features
- 10mm dynamic driver with metal composite diaphragm and N52 magnet
- Neutral, balanced tuning aimed at accuracy over bass emphasis
- 32 ohm impedance and 108 dB sensitivity – easy to drive from phones and laptops
- Detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable in 4-core high-purity OFC copper
- Stainless steel faceplate over an ergonomic plastic shell
- Six pairs of silicone ear tips in two bore styles to adjust fit and sound
- Frequency response of 10 Hz to 20 kHz with THD under 1% at 1 kHz
Sound character
The Zero follows a measured, near-neutral target: vocals and instruments sit where they were mixed, bass is present and tidy rather than swollen, and treble stays clear without the sharp edge that makes long sessions tiring. That makes it a good reference for what your music actually sounds like, and a sensible first IEM if you are moving up from bundled earbuds or entry-level TWS. The metal composite diaphragm keeps distortion low (under 1% at 1 kHz), so busy tracks hold together instead of smearing at volume.
Cable, fit and everyday use
The stock cable is a 4-core high-purity OFC copper cable with gold-plated 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, routed over the ear for a secure fit. Because the connector is a common standard, upgrade and Bluetooth adapter cables are easy to find. Two styles of silicone tips come in the box – a narrower bore set that adds some bass weight and a wider bore set that opens the stage slightly – so you can tune the fit to your ears. A mic version with in-line controls is also available for calls and commuting. Isolation is better than average for a vented IEM once you get a proper seal.
Pairing and variants
The standard version terminates in a 3.5mm plug that works with older phones, laptops, handheld consoles and any DAC or amplifier. A USB Type-C cable version is also made for current phones that have dropped the headphone jack, so pick the termination that matches your device when ordering. There is no battery and nothing to charge or pair – plug in and listen, with no Bluetooth codec quality loss and no latency, which gamers in particular will notice in competitive titles where audio cues matter.
Who should buy it
Listeners who want one affordable wired IEM for music, videos and gaming, and prefer accuracy to boom. At 32 ohms with 108 dB sensitivity it runs at full volume from a phone’s headphone jack, a laptop or a budget dongle DAC – no amplifier needed. If heavy sub-bass is your priority, look at the Zero’s bass-tuned sibling instead; if you want to hear the recording as it was made, this is the one.
