The E-IMAGE EI-A53K is a compact mounting kit that pairs the EI-A53 Mini Articulating Arm with the EI-A05S Smart Clamp, giving you a clamp, a fully articulating arm and a camera or accessory fitting in one small package. The clamp grips round and square tubing, truss and flat plates, the arm positions the payload at almost any angle, and a single thumbscrew locks the whole assembly rigid. E-IMAGE rates the EI-A53 arm at 9 cm (3.5 in) maximum length with a 2 kg (4.4 lb) payload, and the EI-A05S clamp on its own at a 4 kg (8.8 lb) payload with jaws opening from 15 mm to 40 mm. Both parts are aluminium, and together they weigh little more than a handful of bolts in a grip bag.

The Clamp: EI-A05S Smart Clamp

The clamp half of the kit is E-IMAGE’s EI-A05S, a mini super clamp style fitting designed for the tubes and edges found all over a set. Its jaws open from 15 mm to 40 mm, which covers standard light-stand columns, tripod legs, truss chords, boom poles, shelf edges and table tops. The jaw faces are rubber-lined: E-IMAGE specifies better rubber on the jaw specifically so the clamp bites without chewing paint or leaving marks on finished tubes, and so the grip resists twisting under load. Threaded holes in the clamp body take both 1/4 inch-20 and 3/8 inch-16 fittings, the two thread standards that cover almost every photo and video accessory, which is what allows the articulating arm to screw straight in. At 6 cm long and 60 g, the clamp disappears into a pocket, yet used alone it is rated to hold 4 kg, enough for a substantial light or a camera on a ball head.

The Arm: EI-A53 Mini Articulating Arm

Clamps hold things to tubes; arms decide where the thing actually points. The EI-A53 is a 9 cm mini articulating arm with a swivelling mini ball head at each end, each terminating in a 1/4 inch-20 male screw. Each ball head allows over 180 degrees of adjustment, so a monitor can face up from a low clamp point, a microphone can reach in over a table edge, or a small LED can be angled precisely onto a product. One central thumbscrew controls the lockup for the whole arm: loosen it, pose both ball heads, then a quick twist locks everything rigid at once. That single-control design is what makes this class of arm fast on set, because repositioning takes one hand and a few seconds. The arm is rated for a 2 kg payload, which comfortably covers field monitors, wireless receivers, small lights, microphones and compact cameras, and its contact points are rubber-padded to prevent scratching and to help the fitting grip rather than spin.

In Use on Set and on Location

The natural jobs for this kit are the small rigging problems that appear on every shoot. Clamp it to a light stand and angle a monitor toward the operator. Clamp it to a table edge and float a microphone just out of frame. Clamp it to a truss or a tripod leg and add a fill light, a phone for a behind-the-scenes angle, or a wireless receiver where its antennas have clear air. Because the clamp accepts both round and flat profiles, the same kit moves between stands, furniture and rigging without adapters. The short 9 cm arm keeps the payload close to the clamp point, which keeps leverage low and the hold secure; this is a positioning tool for accessories, not a long-reach boom. Work within the arm’s 2 kg rating, lock the thumbscrew firmly, and check the rig with a tug before leaving a camera or light on it unattended.

Both components are aluminium, which keeps the kit light at a combined weight of roughly 125 g based on the published component weights, while standing up to the knocks of location work. Every interface is a photographic standard: 1/4 inch-20 screws and sockets, plus the 3/8 inch-16 hole in the clamp for heavier-duty studs and heads.
