Why Choose Focusrite CLARETT+ OCTOPRE 8-Channel Mic Preamp?

Clarett+ preamps are the reason to choose this expander over a cheaper one. Their all-analogue Air circuit switches impedance and adds a high-frequency shelf modelled on the ISA preamp, giving vocals and acoustic instruments presence without EQ, and the 118 dB mic dynamic range keeps quiet sources clean.

Key Features

• Eight Clarett+ preamps: eight microphone preamps with up to 57 dB of gain and a -129 dBu noise floor.
• All-analogue Air: Air mode switches impedance and adds presence, modelled on the classic ISA preamp.
• Inserts on every channel: a front-panel insert per channel for outboard compressors and EQs before conversion.
• ADAT expansion: eight channels over ADAT into any compatible interface, plus line outputs.
• 24-bit/192 kHz conversion: high-resolution conversion with 118 dB mic dynamic range.

Best Suited For

Studios expanding an interface for drum tracking, live rooms and multi-microphone sessions, and engineers who want ISA-flavoured preamps on every channel. That is the buyer the Focusrite CLARETT+ OCTOPRE 8-Channel Mic Preamp is built for.

Setup and Connection Guide

Connect the ADAT optical output to the interface’s ADAT input, set both units to the same sample rate and clock source, plug microphones into the front combo inputs, and use the inserts for any outboard processing before conversion. Once connected, the Focusrite CLARETT+ OCTOPRE 8-Channel Mic Preamp is ready for its first session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Focusrite CLARETT+ OCTOPRE 8-Channel Mic Preamp an audio interface on its own?

No. It is a preamp expander that needs an interface or converter with an ADAT input; it has no USB connection.

What is Air mode?

Air is an all-analogue circuit that changes the preamp impedance and adds a high-frequency shelf, recreating the character of Focusrite’s ISA preamp.

How many channels does it add?

Eight microphone channels over ADAT, with line outputs for monitoring or a second destination.
