The Zoom H8 is the most expandable Handy Recorder Zoom has made: a 12-track portable recorder (10 tracks plus a stereo mix) built around interchangeable microphone capsules, six local inputs and a colour touchscreen that changes personality with the work at hand. Fit the supplied XYH-6 stereo capsule for music and field recording, swap to a shotgun or ambisonic capsule for video and VR work, or add the EXH-8 expander to reach ten XLR inputs for serious multitrack sessions.

Three dedicated app modes — Music, Field and Podcast — rearrange the touchscreen around each job, so the recorder never feels like a compromise between them. It records to SD cards up to 512GB, doubles as a 12-in/2-out USB audio interface for a computer, and can be controlled from an iOS device with the optional BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter.
