Elipson Planet L Speaker Stand (LW)

Elipson Planet L Speaker Stand (LW)

The Elipson Planet L Speaker Stand is the dedicated floor stand for Elipson’s Planet L spherical loudspeaker. The Planet L is a 290 mm sphere, and a sphere does not sit happily on ordinary furniture: it needs a support designed around its shape, which holds it securely at listening height and presents it the way Elipson intended. This stand is that support. It is an accessory listing for the stand in the LW finish — the Planet L speakers themselves are not included.

Elipson offers the Planet L with several mounting options, including a table stand supplied with the speaker and optional wall, ceiling and floor supports. The floor stand is the choice for a conventional stereo or home cinema layout, where the speakers need to stand freely in the room, away from walls and furniture, at a consistent height on both sides of the listening position.

Key features

• Holds the spherical Planet L securely at listening height
• Floor-standing design for free placement in the room
• Finish designated LW, to pair with the matching Planet L finish
• Speaker not included — this listing is for the stand

Why a dedicated stand matters for a sphere

A loudspeaker performs best when its drivers sit at roughly ear height for a seated listener and when the cabinet is held firmly, clear of surfaces that can resonate or block its output. The Planet L’s coaxial driver focuses sound from the centre of the sphere, so the stand’s job is to put that centre at the right height and keep it there without rocking or slipping. A generic stand with a flat top plate cannot cradle a sphere properly; the dedicated Elipson support is shaped for the Planet L body, which is why the combination looks and behaves as one designed object rather than a speaker balanced on furniture.

Placement in stereo and home cinema systems

Used as a pair, two stands place the left and right Planet L speakers symmetrically, at equal height and equal distance from the listening seat — the starting point for a stable stereo image. In a multi-channel system the same stands can carry the front pair while other Planet speakers are wall or ceiling mounted with Elipson’s matching brackets. Free floor placement also lets you pull the speakers away from rear walls and corners, which usually tightens bass and opens up the soundstage compared with shelf placement.

Living with the Planet L system

The Planet L was designed as an interior-friendly loudspeaker, and the stand completes that idea: the sphere floats at height on a support styled to match it, instead of occupying shelf space. Keep the stands on a level floor, route speaker cables tidily to the rear of each speaker, and check the seating of the sphere in its support after moving anything. If you are building a Planet L system, plan stands, wall brackets or ceiling mounts per position from the start — mixing the correct Elipson mount for each location gives the neatest and most secure result.
