boAt Airdopes 138 Ivory White TWS Earbuds

The boAt Airdopes 138 is a pair of true wireless earbuds in Ivory White, built around 13mm drivers and Bluetooth 5.0 with a high capacity charging case. The manufacturer’s manual for the original Airdopes 138 gives up to 3 hours of music playback from the earbuds and up to 12 hours in total with the 650mAh case, Insta Wake N Pair connection, an in-built microphone with integrated controls, and a rated 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range. This listing follows the original 138, not the later 138 Gen 2, which has a different specification.

Key features

• 13mm dynamic drivers
• Bluetooth 5.0 with Insta Wake N Pair
• Up to 12 hours total playback with the case
• 650mAh charging case, about four earbud charges
• In-built microphone and integrated controls
• Ivory White finish, original Airdopes 138 model

Sound and drivers

At 13mm, the drivers are large for earbuds at this level, and they carry the listening experience for music, video and calls. The rated frequency range is 20Hz to 20kHz with a signal to noise ratio of 90dB in the manual’s specification table. What you hear still depends heavily on fit: the ear tips need to seal in the ear for the low end to register properly. Try the additional tips supplied if the first fit feels loose, since a secure seal improves both sound and stability.

Battery, split properly

The 12 hour total is a case-included figure. The earbuds play for up to 3 hours per charge and also give up to 3 hours of talk time, while the 650mAh case holds enough for roughly four earbud charges, taking the combined total to about 12 hours. Each earbud carries a 40mAh battery, standby time is rated at 100 hours, and a full charge takes about 2 hours. That makes the 138 a set for listening in stretches through the day, returned to its case between uses, rather than for one unbroken long session.

Pairing, calls and controls

Insta Wake N Pair powers the earbuds on and reconnects them to the last paired device when the case lid is opened, following the first pairing. The multi-function button on each earbud controls playback and calls and summons the voice assistant with a long press, and the in-built microphone handles calls in stereo listening comfort. Bluetooth profiles listed for the model include HSP, HFP, A2DP and AVRCP, covering calls and music control from the earbuds. The rated transmission range is 10 metres.

Daily use and care

The 138’s product material describes sweat resistance for active use, but the original model’s manual does not publish a formal IP rating, so do not treat it as waterproof and keep it away from heavy rain and immersion. Dry the earbuds before returning them to the case, keep the charging contacts clean, and store both buds on their correct sides so they charge evenly. In Ivory White, this listing is the colour to choose when comparing original 138 listings, with the same model specification across colours.

For listeners who want large drivers, a big case battery and simple controls in a clean white finish, the original Airdopes 138 in Ivory White is a practical everyday set.
