boAt Airdopes 138 Midnight Blue True Wireless Earbuds

boAt Airdopes 138 Midnight Blue True Wireless Earbuds

The boAt Airdopes 138 is a pair of true wireless earbuds, this listing in Midnight Blue, built around 13 mm drivers and Bluetooth 5.0 with a high-capacity 650 mAh charging case. This is the original Airdopes 138 — a later 138 Gen 2 exists with a different specification, and the two should not be mixed when comparing. The original’s published figures are up to 3 hours of music playback from the earbuds and up to 12 hours in total with the case, an in-built microphone with integrated controls, Insta Wake N Pair connection, and a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. It is a simple, large-driver earbud from the first wave of the Airdopes range.

Playback, in real terms

As with every earbud in this class, the headline total combines two different things. The earbuds themselves carry a 40 mAh battery each and play for up to 3 hours per charge under the manufacturer’s test conditions; the 650 mAh case — large for an earbud case of this period — holds roughly four further charges, bringing the total to up to 12 hours before the case needs its USB Type-C cable. Real results sit below the published figures at high volume or on long calls, but the practical pattern is sound: short listening sessions through the day, with the case restoring the earbuds between them.

Sound and controls

The 13 mm drivers are the largest boAt fitted in this part of the range, and the rated response runs the standard 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Driver size alone does not decide how an earbud sounds — fit and seal in the ear matter as much — but the 138’s recipe is the familiar Airdopes one of the period: a full, bass-forward presentation for music and video, with an in-built microphone for calls. Controls are integrated on the earbuds for the everyday operations of playback and call handling, and Insta Wake N Pair means the earbuds connect to the last paired device when the case opens, with a rated 10 metre Bluetooth range.

Choosing the right 138

Because boAt reused the 138 name for a later generation, the useful check before ordering is the specification, not the name: the original described here is the 13 mm driver model with the 650 mAh case and up to 12 hours of total playback. Colour is the only difference between listings of this model, and Midnight Blue is the deep blue finish of the original range.

For a straightforward, large-driver earbud with a big case battery and none of the current feature stack to pay for, the original Airdopes 138 in Midnight Blue remains what it always was: simple, capacious and easy to live with.
