boAt Airdopes 148 Active Black True Wireless Earbuds

The boAt Airdopes 148 in Active Black are true wireless in-ear earbuds built around 8mm drivers, with up to 42 hours of total playback including the charging case. They use Bluetooth 5.0, carry boAt’s ENx technology for clearer calls, Insta Wake N’ Pair (IWP) for fast connection when the case is opened, and ASAP Charge fast charging that provides up to 75 minutes of playback from a 5-minute charge. An IPX4 rating covers sweat and splash resistance for workouts and daily use.

Sound and drivers

Each earbud uses an 8mm dynamic driver tuned for boAt Signature Sound, with a published frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz. That tuning emphasises the low end that most listeners want for popular music, film dialogue and workout playlists, while keeping vocals forward enough for podcasts and calls. As with all in-ear earbuds, the seal matters as much as the driver: try the supplied ear tips until each bud sits snugly, because a poor seal loses bass and lets in outside noise long before the electronics become the limiting factor. The transmission range is up to 10 metres in open conditions.

Battery life and ASAP Charge

boAt rates the Airdopes 148 for up to 6 hours of playback per charge from the earbuds, with the charging case adding up to 36 hours more for a total of up to 42 hours. The case battery is 600mAh and each earbud carries a 30mAh cell; standby time is rated at 100 hours. Charging time is approximately 1 hour for the earbuds and 2 hours for the case, through a Type-C charging interface. ASAP Charge covers the rushed moments: a 5-minute charge is rated to return up to 75 minutes of playback. All battery figures are manufacturer ratings under test conditions, and real results vary with volume, call usage and connection conditions.

Calls, pairing and controls

ENx is boAt’s environmental noise cancellation technology for the microphone path: it works to reduce surrounding noise in your outgoing voice so callers hear you more clearly in places like streets and stations. It applies to calls, and should not be confused with active noise cancellation of the sound you hear. IWP wakes and pairs the earbuds when the case lid opens, so they connect to the last paired device without a manual pairing step each time. Quick-response touch controls handle playback and calls from the buds, and voice assistant support covers Google Assistant and Siri through the connected phone.

Fit, finish and everyday use

The in-ear design in the Active Black finish is intended for all-day carry: commuting, desk work, calls and training. The IPX4 rating means the earbuds resist splashing water from any direction, which covers sweat and light rain during workouts; it is not a rating for swimming or showering, and the case should be kept dry and the buds dried before being put back to charge. Keep the charging contacts clean so both buds charge evenly, and store the buds in the case to maintain pairing and battery readiness.

The boAt Airdopes 148 Active Black earbuds combine 8mm drivers, long total playback with a fast top-up option, ENx call processing and instant pairing in a sweat-resistant everyday package.
