boAt Airdopes 183 Mercurial Grey True Wireless Earbuds

The boAt Airdopes 183 in Mercurial Grey is a true wireless earbud set built around 10mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 and a pocketable charging case. The earbuds carry an IPX4 rating for sweat and splash resistance, and charging is through USB Type-C.

Sound and drivers

Each earbud uses a 10mm driver tuned for boAt Signature Sound, with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz. That tuning favours clear vocals and present bass for music, podcasts and video. Because these are in-ear buds, the seal of the ear tip affects bass and isolation, so trying the supplied tip sizes is worthwhile. They support SBC and AAC audio codecs, which covers the standard Bluetooth audio used by Android phones, iPhones, laptops and tablets.

Calls, gaming and controls

ENx technology works on the microphone side: it reduces surrounding noise picked up during calls so your voice stays clearer to the listener. That is call noise reduction, not active noise cancellation of what you hear. BEAST mode lowers audio latency for gaming and video, helping sound stay in sync with on-screen action. Touch controls handle playback, calls and voice assistant access, and Insta Wake N Pair powers the buds on and reconnects them when you open the case.

Battery and charging

boAt rates playback at up to 4 hours per earbud charge at moderate volume, with the case adding up to 16 more hours for a combined total of up to 20 hours. The case battery is 300mAh and each earbud holds 35mAh. ASAP Charge gives roughly 90 minutes of playback from a 10-minute top-up, useful before a commute or workout. Earbuds take about an hour to charge and the case about 1.5 hours over USB Type-C. Actual runtime varies with volume, calls and wireless conditions.

Fit, build and everyday use

The IPX4 rating means the earbuds resist sweat and light splashes, so they suit walks, gym sessions and daily travel, though they are not made for swimming or charging while wet. The combined weight of earbuds and case is around 45 grams, small enough for a pocket or bag. Keep the charging contacts clean and dry, seat each bud in its correct case position after use, and start listening at low volume when you first pair a new device.

In short, the Airdopes 183 Mercurial Grey covers the essentials of a daily TWS set: 10mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.2, ENx call clarity, a low-latency mode, fast top-up charging and a 20-hour combined battery reserve in a light, splash-resistant package.
