Jlab Jbuds Air Tws Black

JLab JBuds Air True Wireless Earbuds, Black

The JLab JBuds Air in Black is the original model in JLab long-running JBuds Air line: a compact true wireless earbud set with 8 mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 5.0 Class 1 connection and JLab Custom EQ3 sound, offering three tunings you can switch on the earbuds themselves with no app required. Battery life is 6 hours in the earbuds with a further 18 hours in the charging case, for 24 hours in total. An IP55 rating covers sweat and splashes, auto on and connect gets music playing the moment the case opens, and the case carries its own integrated USB charging cable, so there is never a separate cable to find.

EQ3 sound without an app

Most earbuds at this level give you one fixed tuning. The JBuds Air gives you three. JLab Signature adds emphasis to vocals and bass for everyday listening, Balanced flattens the response for a more even sound, and Bass Boost lifts the low end for workouts and bass-heavy tracks. A few taps on the earbud cycles through the modes, announced in the ear, and the setting is remembered. The 8 mm neodymium drivers cover 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a rated sensitivity of 103 dB and 32 ohm impedance, so they play loudly and cleanly from any phone. Stereo sound is carried through calls as well as music, so voices arrive in both ears.

Battery and the charging case

Six hours in the earbuds covers a working day of mixed listening or a long training session, and the pocket-size case holds another 18 hours of charge, topping the earbuds up each time they are put away. Indicator lights on the case show how much power remains. The detail owners appreciate most is the integrated USB cable built into the case itself: it tucks into the base and plugs into any USB port or laptop to recharge, so the case can be refilled wherever you are without carrying a cable. Each earbud weighs just 5 g, and the case is 50 g.

Fit, controls and calls

Three sets of gel eartips in different sizes and one set of Cush Fins are included, and combining a tip with a fin gives a fit that stays put while running or training, helped by the IP55 rating against sweat and dirt. The earbuds switch on and connect to each other automatically when removed from the case, then pair with the last device used. Button controls on the earbuds handle play, pause, track skipping and volume, and the MEMS microphone in the right earbud takes calls and summons Siri, Google Assistant or another voice assistant. Bluetooth range is rated at over 30 feet in open use.

The JBuds Air earned its popularity by getting the basics right: honest battery life, a case that charges anywhere, sound you can tune in seconds and a fit that survives a workout. In Black, it remains a dependable everyday set for music, calls and training.
