boAt Airdopes Ace Active Black True Wireless Earbuds

The boAt Airdopes Ace is a pair of true wireless earbuds in Active Black, built around 13 mm drivers with boAt Signature Sound and Bluetooth 5.3. It is the original Airdopes Ace — not the later Ace Gen 2 — and its specification is the straightforward, well-rounded one that made the model a staple of the range: up to 35 hours of total playback with the charging case, ENx technology on its dual microphones for clearer calls, a BEAST low-latency mode for gaming and video, and an IPX5 rating against sweat and splashes. Everything is aimed at everyday use: music, calls, workouts and gaming from one pocketable case.

Playback, in real terms

The published figures separate into two numbers worth keeping apart. The earbuds themselves play for up to 8.5 hours from a full charge; the case carries further charges, bringing the total to up to 35 hours before the case itself needs its USB Type-C cable. Those are the manufacturer’s figures under test conditions, and real use — higher volume, long calls, BEAST mode — will land below them, but the shape of the claim is the useful part: a full day of listening from the buds, and days between charges for the case. ASAP Charge covers the forgotten-charge morning: ten minutes plugged in returns up to two hours of playback.

Calls and latency

Two features separate the Ace from the simplest earbuds in its class. ENx is boAt’s call-processing technology, working on the dual microphones to reduce surrounding noise for the person at the other end; it is call noise reduction, not active noise cancellation for the listener, and the copy here keeps that distinction because the two are often confused. BEAST mode cuts latency to a rated 50 ms, which is what keeps game audio and video dialogue in step with the picture; for music alone it makes no difference, and it can be left off. Insta Wake N Pair handles the daily routine — open the case and the earbuds connect to the last paired device.

Fit and daily use

The IPX5 rating means the earbuds shrug off sweat and light rain, covering workouts and commutes, though it is not a swimming rating. Touch controls on the earbuds handle playback and calls without reaching for the phone, and the Active Black finish is the neutral choice of the Ace colour range, pairing with the same specification as every other colour of the original model.

For buyers who want the original Airdopes Ace — 13 mm drivers, long case-backed playback, ENx calls and a low-latency mode — in Active Black, this is that earbud with no feature quietly swapped.
