Description
Edifier P230 USB-C Wired Earphones – Hi-Res Sound Straight From the Port
Phones lost the headphone jack, and the P230 is built for what replaced it. Inside its USB-C plug sits a DAC that takes the digital signal straight from your phone, feeding a 12.4 mm dynamic driver in an earphone certified for Hi-Res Audio, with response extending to 40 kHz and distortion held to half a percent or less. Around that sits an IP54 dust- and sweat-resistant build made for commutes, workouts and Indian weather – wired earphones engineered as a modern digital accessory rather than a leftover analogue one.
Key features
- 12.4 mm dynamic driver – large for an in-ear, for real bass weight
- Hi-Res Audio certified with response up to 40 kHz
- Built-in DAC in the USB-C connector for clean digital playback
- Total harmonic distortion of 0.5 percent or less
- IP54 rated against dust, sweat and splashes
- In-line microphone and controls for calls and playback
- No battery, no pairing, no latency – plug in and play
Why the DAC in the plug matters
A USB-C port carries data, not audio. Cheap earphones rely on whatever conversion the phone offers; the P230 performs its own digital-to-analogue conversion in the connector, with a chip specified for hi-res files. The result is a lower noise floor and consistent sound from device to device – the same earphone sounds the same on a phone, a tablet and a laptop, because the conversion travels with it.
A 12.4 mm driver is a statement
Most wired earphones use drivers of 6 to 10 mm. The P230’s 12.4 mm unit moves more air, which shows up as bass with body and lower distortion at listening volume – the driver is cruising where smaller units strain. Paired with the hi-res tuning, vocals stay forward and detailed while electronic and film music get the low-end foundation they are mixed with.
Built for the commute and the gym
IP54 sealing shrugs off sweat, dust and light rain, and the wired connection means no battery anxiety, no Bluetooth dropouts in crowded stations, and zero latency for gaming and video. When the workout or the journey ends, they coil into a pocket – nothing to charge before the next one.
For listeners who want streaming-era convenience without giving up wired fidelity, the P230 is the USB-C earphone done properly.
