JBL Tune 510BT Headphones

The JBL Tune 510BT is a wireless on-ear headphone in black, built around 32 mm dynamic drivers and JBL Pure Bass sound. A built-in microphone and earcup controls handle calls, playback and voice assistants without reaching for the phone, keeping the whole design focused on simple daily listening.

Sound and driver tuning

JBL Pure Bass is the house tuning that emphasises low-frequency weight and punch, the character JBL has built in large venues and carried into its portable range. In the Tune 510BT it is delivered by 32 mm dynamic drivers with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, an impedance of 32 Ohms and a driver sensitivity of 103.5 dB at 1 kHz and 1 mW. In practice that means an energetic, easy-going sound for pop, film soundtracks, podcasts and workout playlists, at comfortable listening levels from any phone or laptop without a separate amplifier.

The on-ear fit rests on the ears rather than around them, keeping the headphone compact and leaving some awareness of the surroundings, which suits commuting, office use and walking. Soft ear cushions and a padded headband distribute the light clamping force, and the 160 g weight keeps the headphone from feeling heavy over a day of intermittent listening.

Battery, charging and Bluetooth use

Battery life is the headline practical feature: up to 40 hours of music with Bluetooth on, so charging becomes a weekly habit rather than a daily one. A full charge from empty takes about 2 hours, and JBL’s speed charge adds roughly 2 hours of playback from a 5-minute top-up when the battery has run down at the wrong moment. Charging is over a USB Type-C connection, matching current phones and laptops.

Bluetooth 5.0 supports the A2DP, AVRCP and HFP profiles for music, control and calls. Multipoint connection keeps two devices connected simultaneously, so the headphone can play a video from a laptop and still answer a call arriving on a phone, then return to the laptop afterwards. Listening on this model is wireless only: there is no analogue audio input and no active noise cancelling, which keeps the controls, weight and operation simple. The short cable in the box is the charging cable, not an audio lead.

Controls, calls and portability

Buttons on the earcup manage volume, playback and calls, and a press summons Siri or Google Assistant for voice control of music, messages and reminders. The single built-in microphone handles hands-free calling, and JBL’s VoiceAware feature lets you hear your own voice during a call so you do not end up shouting in a quiet room. When the listening is done, the earcups fold flat so the headphone slides into a bag or drawer without taking up headphone-case space.

This black version keeps the same specification as the rest of the Tune 510BT range; the colour is the only difference. For students, commuters and anyone buying a first wireless headphone, that combination of long battery life, simple controls and a fold-flat frame is the core of the design.

Choose the JBL Tune 510BT in black for uncomplicated wireless listening: strong JBL Pure Bass sound, a battery that lasts for days of use, multipoint Bluetooth for phone and laptop together, and a lightweight frame that folds flat when the day is done.
