Pioneer DJ HDJ-CUE1 DJ Headphones

Pioneer DJ HDJ-CUE1 DJ Headphones

The Pioneer DJ HDJ-CUE1 is a DJ headphone designed for cueing and monitoring, taking its sound tuning and 40 mm driver design from the professional HDJ-X5 model and putting it within reach of beginners and working DJs who need a dependable pair. The closed-back, dynamic design keeps the cue signal clear in a loud room and keeps your monitoring from leaking out.

Sound is tuned for the booth: bass you can feel for matching kick drums, and clear midrange and high-end detail for hearing exactly where a track sits before you bring it in. With a frequency range of 5 Hz to 30,000 Hz, 104 dB sensitivity and a 32 ohm impedance, the HDJ-CUE1 plays loudly and cleanly from DJ mixers, controllers and everyday audio sources without needing a separate amplifier.

Key features

• 40 mm dome-type dynamic drivers with tuning inherited from the HDJ-X5
• Closed-back design for cueing in noisy environments
• Ear cups that swivel a full 90 degrees for one-ear monitoring
• Detachable 1.2 m coiled cable, extending to 1.8 m
• Metal sliders in the headband for added strength at the moving parts
• Lightweight 215 g build (without cable) with a cushioned, flexible headband

Made for the booth

DJ monitoring is a physical job. The swivelling ear cups let you listen with one ear on the cue and one ear on the room, rest a cup on the back of your head, or wear the headphones around your neck between mixes. The flexible headband and soft ear pads keep that comfortable through a long set, and every moving part is built to handle the twisting and one-handed handling that DJing involves night after night.

Cable and customisation

The cable is the part most likely to fail on hard-working headphones, so the HDJ-CUE1 makes it detachable: a damaged cable is a quick replacement rather than a new headphone. The supplied coiled cable stays compact at the mixer and stretches to 1.8 m when you need to move. If you want to personalise the pair, separately available accessory packs replace the cable and ear pads with coloured versions in orange, yellow, green, blue or pink, letting the headphones match your setup or simply stand out as yours in a shared booth.

Who it suits

This is a natural first DJ headphone for someone learning to beatmatch on a controller, and an equally sensible backup pair for an experienced DJ’s bag. It also works well for everyday listening when you want a closed-back headphone with strong low end and a fit that stays put.

Reliable cueing, a tough build and a replaceable cable make the HDJ-CUE1 a headphone that can be worked hard from the first practice session onwards.
