Sennheiser PC 8 USB Headset

Sennheiser PC 8 USB Headset

The Sennheiser PC 8 USB is a double-sided USB headset made for voice work: internet telephony, remote work, online classes, e-learning and customer support. It connects to a computer by USB and carries its own sound card in the inline unit, so calls bypass the computer’s analogue sockets entirely and the headset works the same way on a PC or a Mac. A noise-cancelling, unidirectional microphone keeps the focus on your voice, both ears are covered for concentration, and at 84 g the headset is light enough to wear through a full working day of calls.

Key features

• USB plug-and-play connection with an integrated USB sound card, no drivers to install

• Inline control with volume adjustment and microphone mute at your fingertips
• Headphone frequency response of 42 Hz to 17,000 Hz with 32 Ohm impedance
• Lightweight 84 g build on a 2 m cable, in black

Built for clear conversations

In a call headset the microphone matters more than anything else, and the PC 8 USB microphone is specified for speech: a frequency response of 90 Hz to 15,000 Hz, a unidirectional pickup pattern, sensitivity of -40 dBV/Pa and noise cancelling that reduces competing background sound before it reaches the person listening. Positioned on its boom near the corner of the mouth, it captures your voice consistently while the television, colleagues or household noise around you are pushed down in the mix.

The headphone side is tuned for the same job. Stereo sound with a 42 Hz to 17,000 Hz response and a sound pressure level of 95 dB keeps voices natural and easy to follow over long calls, which reduces listening fatigue in training sessions, language lessons and support queues. The on-ear, open design lets a little of the room remain audible, useful when you still need to hear a doorbell, a colleague or your own voice naturally while speaking.

Controls, comfort and daily work

The inline control unit sits on the 2 m cable within easy reach and handles the two adjustments a call actually needs: headphone volume and a microphone mute switch. Muting from the cable is faster and more reliable than hunting for an on-screen button when a call needs a private moment, and it works regardless of which calling application is in use. Volume changes likewise stay independent of the computer’s own settings once the call has started.

At 84 g, with a padded headband and soft on-ear cushions, the PC 8 USB is designed to be forgotten while worn. The double-sided fit spreads weight evenly and helps concentration compared with a single-ear headset, while still packing flat into a laptop bag drawer between shifts. There is no battery to charge and no wireless pairing to manage; the USB connection supplies both the audio path and the power, so the headset is ready whenever it is plugged in.

Compatibility and setup

Setup is a single step: plug the USB connector into a free port on a Windows PC or Mac and select the headset in your calling or learning application if it does not switch automatically. Because the sound card is built into the headset, it is a practical fix for computers with noisy, damaged or missing analogue headphone sockets, and it keeps microphone quality consistent when the same headset moves between machines at home, in a classroom or across a support desk. The 2 m cable gives enough reach to sit back from the screen and reach a desktop tower under a desk.

For anyone whose day is spent on calls, classes or voice chat, the PC 8 USB keeps the formula dependable: a clear noise-cancelling microphone, comfortable double-sided wearing, inline mute and volume, and a USB connection that simply works on PC and Mac.
