This is a replacement lamp module for the BenQ TK800 4K HDR home projector. It is the consumable light source the TK800 was built around: a 240 W lamp of the type BenQ specifies for the projector, supplied as a replacement module to restore the projector’s brightness when the original lamp reaches the end of its life, dims noticeably, or fails. A projector lamp does not fade like a dimmer; as it ages, brightness and colour balance fall away, and replacing the lamp is what returns a TK800 to the 3,000 ANSI lumen performance it had when new. This listing is the lamp module only, not a projector.
BenQ rates the TK800’s lamp life by the mode the projector runs in, and the mode you choose decides how long a lamp lasts. In Normal mode, at full brightness, the rating is 4,000 hours. Economic mode reduces lamp power and extends that to 10,000 hours, and LampSave mode, which dynamically adjusts lamp power to the content, extends it to a maximum of 15,000 hours. SmartEco operation sits between those figures by varying power with the picture. Actual life always depends on usage patterns, ventilation and how often the projector is switched on and off, but the spread shows the trade clearly: brightness now, or lamp hours later. A lamp that has passed its rated life in Normal mode will be visibly dimmer long before it stops working entirely, which is the usual reason to replace it.
The TK800 tracks lamp hours in its menu and warns as the lamp approaches its limit. Practical signs come earlier: a picture that no longer looks bright in a darkened room, colours that have drifted, or a lamp warning indicator on the projector. Replacing the lamp at that point restores the projector’s specified output; continuing on a heavily worn lamp risks a failure mid-use, and a lamp run far beyond its rated life can fail physically inside the compartment. If the projector has a fault unrelated to the lamp, in its power supply, cooling or optics, a new lamp will not cure it, so a projector that will not start at all should be diagnosed before a lamp is ordered for it.
Lamp replacement on the TK800 follows the projector’s manual. Shut the projector down normally, disconnect the power and allow the full cooling period the manual specifies, because a recently used lamp is extremely hot. Open the lamp compartment cover, release the old module by its fixings and handle, and lift it out without touching the lamp glass. Seat the replacement module fully, secure it, and refit the cover before reconnecting power; the projector will not run with the cover unsecured. Only then reset the lamp timer in the menu, so the hour count starts from zero for the new lamp. If the old lamp has broken inside the projector, stop and follow BenQ’s guidance for broken-lamp handling and disposal, or use a qualified service technician.
Lamp modules are model-specific in their housing, connector and electrical characteristics, and similar-looking modules from other BenQ models are not interchangeable. Confirm that the projector’s own label reads TK800, and match the replacement against the projector’s manual and the module being removed before fitting. Fitted to the correct projector, this module returns the TK800 to its original specification: a 240 W lamp delivering the projector’s rated brightness, with thousands of hours of rated life ahead of it depending on the mode you run.
