BenQ LK936ST 4K UHD Short Throw Laser Projector

BenQ LK936ST – 4K UHD Short Throw Laser Projector with 5,100 ANSI Lumens

The BenQ LK936ST is a 4K UHD laser projector built for installations where the projector must sit close to a large screen: golf and racing simulators, training rooms and high-end media spaces. Its BlueCore laser light source delivers 5,100 ANSI lumens, its 0.81 to 0.89 short throw lens fills a big image from a short distance, and wide manual lens shift gives installers real freedom over mounting position.

Key features

• 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) DLP resolution with 30-bit, 1.07 billion colour display
• 5,100 ANSI lumens from a laser light source rated 20,000 hours in Normal mode
• 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio with laser dimming
• Short throw 0.81 to 0.89 ratio with 1.1x zoom for close installation
• Manual lens shift: vertical plus or minus 60%, horizontal plus or minus 23%
• 92% Rec.709 coverage with dedicated Golf, DICOM SIM and sRGB modes
• HDBaseT, DisplayPort and dual HDMI 2.0b inputs for long cable runs
• Built-in 10 W speaker and eARC audio return

Brightness for lit rooms and large screens

At 5,100 ANSI lumens the LK936ST is built for rooms that cannot be darkened and screens that stay large – exactly the conditions in a simulator bay or a presentation space with windows. The laser source holds its output consistently over a 20,000-hour Normal-mode life and 30,000 hours in Eco mode, with instant on and off and no lamp changes. A sealed DLP optical engine resists dust ingress, protecting image quality in environments where filters alone are not enough.

Short throw optics and lens shift

The 0.81 to 0.89 throw ratio keeps the projector in front of the playing or presenting area, so a golfer’s swing or a presenter’s shadow never crosses the image, while the 1.1x zoom trims image size without moving the mount. Lens shift does the fine positioning optically rather than digitally: plus or minus 60% vertical and plus or minus 23% horizontal movement lets the image land square on the screen even when the mount is off-centre, and 3D keystone correction with rotation adjustment is available when shift alone cannot solve the geometry. Screen sizes from 30 to 300 inches are supported.

Picture modes for simulation and presentation

A dedicated Golf mode boosts sky blue and grass green so simulator courses read with realistic depth, DICOM SIM mode serves medical-image training, and sRGB and Infographic modes prioritise accurate, legible graphics and text. Colour coverage is 92% of Rec.709 with HDR10 and HLG support for video content, with 360-degree and portrait projection available for exhibition-style installs.

Connectivity and control

HDBaseT carries video, audio and control over a single network cable for long runs back to a rack or PC, DisplayPort suits high-end simulator computers, and two HDMI 2.0b inputs cover additional sources. LAN control integrates with major room-control systems, RS232 and a 12 V trigger handle screen and system automation, and a wired remote connection supports installations where infrared cannot reach. The 10 W built-in speaker covers announcements and casual audio, with S/PDIF and eARC outputs for a separate sound system.

For simulation rooms and bright, large-screen installations that need 4K detail from a short distance, the LK936ST combines the brightness, optics and connectivity that fixed installs demand.
