Sonus Faber Palladio Level 5 PC-562P 2 Way Point In-ceiling Speaker

Sonus Faber Palladio Level 5 PC-562P In-Ceiling Speaker – Angled Point Design

The Sonus Faber Palladio PC-562P is the angled, point-source model in the Palladio Level 5 in-ceiling range, the line engineered to match the Sonetto collection in materials, voicing and design. The P designation matters: where the standard PC-562 fires straight down, the PC-562P positions its drivers at an angle to the ceiling surface, aiming the sound towards the listening position. That makes it the answer to a common problem: front channels in a room where speakers cannot go on the front wall, but sound still has to arrive from the screen, not overhead.

The driver set follows the Voice of Sonus Faber recipe used across the company’s passive loudspeakers. A 29 mm silk dome tweeter uses DAD, Damped Apex Dome, technology to control resonance at the centre of the dome, framed by the satin aluminium trim that is the line’s visual signature. Below it, a 165 mm midwoofer uses a custom diaphragm of natural fibre and cellulose pulp, the material pairing Sonus Faber chooses for a warm, natural midrange. The crossover, built on the company’s anti-resonant Paracross Topology, hands over between the drivers at 3,000 Hz.

Key features

• Angled point design aims sound at the listening position
• 29 mm DAD silk dome tweeter with satin aluminium trim
• 165 mm natural fibre and cellulose pulp midwoofer
• Paracross Topology crossover at 3,000 Hz
• Frequency response of 50 to 25,000 Hz
• Bezel-free round magnetic grille, ready to paint

Why the angled design changes the result

A downward-firing ceiling speaker places its best listening axis on the floor beneath it. The PC-562P’s angled driver assembly redirects that axis towards the seats, so a ceiling-mounted front stage can image like a conventional one, with dialogue anchored to the screen and stereo effects placed where the mix intends. Its coverage angle is plus or minus 60 degrees, horizontally and vertically, at 1 kHz, which gives the installer freedom in positioning while the aiming does the precision work. Sensitivity is 90 dB SPL at 2.83V and 1 metre, an easy load in efficiency terms, and the frequency response extends from 50 Hz to 25,000 Hz.

Installation dimensions and fittings

The angled mechanism needs more room than the flat model, and the figures should be checked before the ceiling is cut. The frame outer diameter is 265.2 mm, the cut-out is 244 mm, depth behind the surface is 170 mm, and the fitting protrudes 10 mm. Net weight is 3.2 kg. The swing-out dog fixing system secures the speaker to plasterboard quickly, and the bezel-free round magnetic grille supplied in the box can be painted to disappear into the ceiling, with a square grille available as an additional fitting, along with a pre-mount kit for new construction. Rotating the speaker in its cut-out before final fixing sets the aim direction.

Amplifier matching

Nominal impedance is 4 ohms, so confirm the amplifier or AV receiver is rated for 4 ohm loads, particularly when several Palladio speakers share one unit. Sonus Faber suggests amplifier power between 40 and 200 watts per channel without clipping.

For custom theatres and living-room systems where the front wall cannot carry speakers, the PC-562P brings genuine Sonus Faber voicing to the ceiling without surrendering the directionality that makes a front stage convincing.
