True360 sound, properly engineered

A combination of powerful amplifiers and drivers creates the Beolit 20 sound. The 5.5-inch long-stroke wideband woofer handles the low end with help from two 4-inch passive bass radiators, while three 1.5-inch full-range drivers spread the midrange and treble in every direction. Maximum loudness is 93 dB SPL at one metre, with a bass capability of 77 dB SPL, and Bang & Olufsen rates the speaker for rooms of 10 to 50 square metres. A speaker that also charges your phone

The redesigned top tray integrates a Qi wireless charging surface. Set a compatible phone or earbuds case on the marked area and it charges at up to 5W while the music plays, powered by the speaker’s own 3,200 mAh battery or by mains power when the speaker is plugged in. The speaker itself charges over USB-C at 15V DC / 3A, taking approximately 3 hours for a full charge. Charging a phone from the battery will shorten the available playing time, as expected.

Connections, pairing and controls

Bluetooth 4.2 with AAC and SBC codec support handles wireless playback from phones, tablets and computers, and a 3.5 mm line-in covers wired sources. Two Beolit speakers can be stereo paired — either two Beolit 20 units or a Beolit 20 with the earlier Beolit 17 — for a wider, separated stereo image. On-device controls on the top cover power, Bluetooth connection, play/pause and volume, so daily use needs no phone in hand. There is no Wi-Fi streaming or voice assistant built in; this is a focused Bluetooth speaker, and it does that job with very high-quality parts.
