Edifier MP85 Portable Bluetooth Speaker (Green)

Edifier MP85 Portable Bluetooth Speaker, Green

The Edifier MP85 is a small portable Bluetooth speaker in Green, made for personal listening wherever you happen to be: a desk, a bedside table, a kitchen counter, a hotel room. Edifier describes it as light and chic with long playtime, and that positioning is the product: a speaker small enough to live in a bag and move around the house, streaming wirelessly from a phone, tablet or laptop, that comfortably outperforms the speaker built into the phone itself for music, podcasts, videos and calls.

Key features

• Portable Bluetooth speaker in Green
• Wireless Bluetooth streaming from phones, tablets and laptops
• Light, compact format made to be carried
• Long playtime for a speaker of its size
• Personal listening for desks, rooms and travel
• From Edifier’s portable speaker range

Small speaker, personal scale

The MP85 is designed around one listener at close range rather than a room full of people, and judged on that job it makes its case easily: podcasts stay intelligible, music gains the body a phone speaker cannot produce, and video dialogue stops sounding like it is coming from inside a drawer. Personal-scale speakers succeed by being present, charged and effortless, and the MP85’s light, compact build is aimed squarely at that daily availability.

Bluetooth and nothing else to manage

There is no app to install, no network to join and no cable to find: pair once with the phone, tablet or laptop and the speaker reconnects as part of the furniture. That simplicity is why this format owns the desk and the bedside table. The Green finish gives the little speaker a distinct identity among the black boxes that dominate the category, so it reads as a chosen object on the desk rather than a utility.

Where it fits

Students in hostels, travellers in hotel rooms, listeners who move between kitchen and garden, and anyone whose music follows them around a flat: the MP85 suits them all, at a size and price that make it an easy second speaker for the home as well. Keep it close, keep it charged, and it will outperform the phone for everything you actually play through it.

At the price, in its place

Portable speakers divide into room systems that happen to move and personal speakers that happen to play music; the MP85 is firmly the second kind, and it is priced for that role. As a first Bluetooth speaker, a student’s room speaker, a travel spare or a gift that will genuinely be used, it lands exactly where intended. Listeners whose main system is a phone will hear the step up immediately; listeners with a full home system will find it the speaker that travels when the big one cannot.

For personal listening that travels from desk to bedside to bag, the Edifier MP85 in Green is a light, simple Bluetooth speaker that beats the phone every time.
