The Marshall Middleton in Black and Brass is the largest model in Marshall’s original portable speaker range: a quad-driver, 60 W system in a 1.8 kg body with a detachable carry strap. Two 3-inch woofers and two 3/5-inch tweeters, each driven by its own Class D amplifier (2 x 20 W for the woofers and 2 x 10 W for the tweeters), fire outward to produce Marshall’s True Stereophonic sound, a stereo presentation that carries in every direction rather than only from one listening position. Two passive radiators support the bass in the sealed cabinet, frequency response runs from 50 Hz to 20 kHz, and maximum output is 87 dB SPL at 1 metre.

Battery, Charging and Power Bank

The rechargeable battery delivers more than 20 hours of playtime, a full charge takes about 4.5 hours over USB-C, and a 20-minute quick charge returns roughly 2 hours of playtime for a short-notice outing. The USB-C port works in both directions: the Middleton can charge a phone from its own battery at 5 V / 1 A, which is useful on a terrace, at a picnic or on a work site where no socket is free. Bluetooth 5.1 connects over a range of up to 10 metres using the SBC codec, and a 3.5 mm AUX input covers wired sources.

Built for Outdoors

The cabinet is IP67 rated, meaning it is dust-tight and can be immersed in 1 metre of water for 30 minutes, so rain, poolside splashes and dust do not end the session. The body uses 55 percent post-consumer recycled plastic and is 100 percent PVC-free. A multi-directional control knob on the top panel handles volume, playback and pairing, with separate bass and treble controls alongside it and further adjustment in the Marshall Bluetooth app.

Stack Mode and Everyday Use

Stack Mode synchronises multiple Middleton speakers so several units play the same music together, scaling the sound for larger gatherings without cables. At 109 x 230 x 95 mm and 1.8 kg with its carry strap, this Black and Brass version is sized for moving between home, garden and travel while keeping the amplifier-inspired Marshall styling.
