Sony SRS-XV500 Hi-fi

Sony SRS-XV500 Party Speaker

The Sony SRS-XV500 is a battery-powered party speaker built for gatherings where one small Bluetooth box is not enough. Two X-Balanced Speaker Units handle the low and mid frequencies while two front-facing tweeters carry vocals and detail, so music stays clear when the volume goes up and the room fills. A dedicated MEGA BASS control adds low-end weight when you want it, beat-synced lighting sets the mood, and a battery rated for up to 25 hours means the speaker can run through a full day of use without sitting next to a wall socket.

Key features

• Two X-Balanced Speaker Units plus two tweeters for powerful bass and clear highs
• Up to 25 hours of battery life, with 2.5 hours of playback from a 10-minute quick charge
• MEGA BASS boost and customisable lighting that pulses with the music
• IPX4 splash resistance for indoor and outdoor use
• Microphone and guitar inputs for karaoke and live performance
• Bluetooth streaming with SBC, AAC and LDAC codec support
• Party Connect lets you link up to 100 compatible Sony speakers
• Carry handles and horizontal or vertical placement

Sound built around the X-Balanced driver

Sony’s X-Balanced Speaker Unit uses a non-circular diaphragm with a larger surface area than a conventional round driver of the same size. That shape increases sound pressure for deeper bass while reducing distortion at high volume. Paired with the two tweeters at the front of the cabinet, the XV500 keeps speech, vocals and percussion intelligible instead of burying them under bass. For dance music and party playlists, the MEGA BASS button adds extra low-frequency emphasis at a single touch, and the Sony Music Center app gives you finer control over sound settings and lighting from your phone.

Battery, charging and placement

The built-in rechargeable battery is rated for up to 25 hours of playback, and quick charging returns about 2.5 hours of listening from just 10 minutes plugged in. The speaker can also run from mains power while it charges. Two handles make the 11.2 kg cabinet manageable to move between rooms, a terrace or a hall, and the cabinet works standing upright or lying on its side, which helps when space on a table or stage is tight. An IPX4 rating protects against splashes, so light rain or a spilled drink near the speaker is not a concern during outdoor use.

Karaoke, guitar and party linking

Two 6.3 mm inputs accept a microphone and a guitar, turning the XV500 into a compact PA for karaoke nights, announcements and small live sets, with echo control for the microphone. USB playback covers music stored on a thumb drive, and a 3.5 mm line input connects wired sources. With Party Connect, up to 100 compatible Sony speakers can play the same music together, and Stereo Pair pairs two units for proper left and right channels. The Fiestable app adds DJ-style effects and gesture-style control for running the party from the dance floor.

Who it suits

The SRS-XV500 suits homes that host often, community halls, fitness instructors, event hosts and anyone who needs one portable system for music, announcements and karaoke. It is a party speaker first, designed for volume, bass and long battery life rather than quiet nearfield listening.

If you want a single speaker that covers a full gathering without a separate amplifier, mixer or mains supply, the XV500 brings the drivers, the inputs and the battery together in one cabinet that you can carry in, switch on and use straight away.
