Most surround systems fail on furniture, not sound. There is no room for speaker stands behind the sofa, no depth for a conventional bookshelf cabinet, and no appetite for cutting holes in the wall. Why aramid fibre matters

Aramid fibre is stiffer and better damped than the polypropylene or paper cones used in most speakers at this level. A stiffer cone holds its shape as it moves, which keeps distortion down and lets the woofer play cleaner through the midrange – the region where dialogue effects, footsteps and ambient detail actually live in a surround mix. The revised cone shape in the Debut 2.0 generation extends that smoothness further, so the OW4.2 sounds composed rather than strained when a soundtrack gets busy.

The tweeter and waveguide

The 1-inch cloth dome uses a wide-roll surround that extends response to 35 kHz, well beyond audibility, which keeps the audible treble free of breakup artefacts. Its waveguide controls dispersion and reduces diffraction from the cabinet edges, widening the useful listening area. In a surround role that matters: viewers rarely sit in one perfect seat, and the OW4.2 keeps effects and ambience consistent across a sofa rather than beaming them at a single spot.

Where it works best

Use a pair as side or rear surrounds in a 5.1 or 7.1 system built around Debut 2.0 front speakers, or as compact front speakers in a smaller room where stands are not an option. The maximum power input of 80 watts and friendly impedance make it a comfortable partner for mainstream AV receivers. Add a subwoofer for the lowest octaves, set the receiver crossover accordingly, and the OW4.2 handles everything above it with ease.
